Her eyes darkened, filling with so much lust, it took my breath away. “Tanner, this is new for me.”

“It’s new for me too. We can take it slow. I just want you in my arms.”

She gave me a small smile. “I hope I didn’t hurt you.”

“Never, baby.” I kissed her softly on the mouth. “Never.”

She took a deep breath, letting it out slowly before deepening the kiss.

Splitting her lips apart with my tongue, I swallowed her moan.

Before I could take it further with this woman I hardly knew but craved just the same, footsteps sounded down the stairs.

She jumped, her eyes landing on the closed door behind me. She slid off my lap, the air suddenly turning cold around us, and went to the closet door. Slipping inside, she brought her finger up to her mouth.

I nodded.

Busy closed the closet door, hiding herself from whoever was coming down into the basement. I usually didn’t care what anyone thought but this was exciting. A part of me enjoyed hiding her while the other part wanted to have her on my arm and show her off. I would eventually. But for now, she would be my dirty little secret.

Bee

AS I SLIPPED INTOthe closet, I felt like I was a kid hiding the fact that I stole a cookie right before supper. But the hint of mischief flashing in Tanner’s deep blue eyes as I hid myself away, made me almost thankful for the interruption. Especially when something was switching between us and fast.

I had never meant to throw myself at him and kiss him. But when I called him ‘baby,’ the attraction grew. It just slipped out. I was never expecting it to fall from my lips but when it did, it felt almost normal. Like Tanner and I had been dating for a long time. Being with him, spending time with him, felt like it was all meant to be.

“Have you seen Bee?” I heard someone ask, pulling me from my thoughts.

“No,” Tanner replied. A part of me wasn’t expecting him to actually lie about my whereabouts but I was happy that he had. Even though these people were my family, I knew I would still get issues.

“You sure? She’s not in her room. She was grabbing food for you earlier, which I can see that you already have.”

I wasn’t overly sure who Tanner was talking to. It sounded like Cyrus, but it could have been Sammy as well. As they got older, they no longer looked like twins. Their voices still sounded similar, though Sammy’s held an edge of contempt. He just hated everything and everyone around him. I wasn’t sure why. No one ever gave me the reasoning behind it. Even his brother wouldn’t tell me.

“I don’t know where she is. She dropped off the food and then left shortly after.”

“Why don’t I believe you?”

“I don’t give a shit if you believe me or not. You’ve been on my ass since I showed up at Busy’s place a week ago.”

My stomach twisted, realizing he was talking to Sammy. It made me wonder if they had a run-in a few other times throughout the week.

“What do you want with Bee?”

“Why do you all keep asking me that? I don’t even know her.”

But I knew exactly what he wanted because he had told me so. While I appreciated Tanner’s honesty, I wasn’t expecting him to actually tell me every single dirty detail.

I touched my lips, remembering the fast but intense kiss we had shared. Every inch of me heated, imagining what it would be like to truly be with him. To be with a man who just didn’t care about anything else but being with the woman he was attracted to.

“Right,” Sammy said, drawing out the word. “I’m not stupid. I’ve seen the way you look at her and you haven’t even known her for more than a week yet.”

“I haven’t seen her all week. I’m sure you all kept her busy to the point she couldn’t come see me.” Tanner paused. “It’s too bad though. I’m sure I could keep her way more entertained than you and your brother. Or is that the problem? Are you jealous? You want her for yourself? Word on the street is that you’re a sick fuck, Sammy. I can’t say I ever pegged you for the type who got off on degrading women.”

My eyes widened.

“You don’t know shit about me.”

“Yeah, and you don’t know shit aboutme.”
