“You are in control. With me. With your life. With everything. What you and I have, it wouldn’t be happening without your complete consent.” I pushed into her harder. “This, all of me, it’s all yours but only when you give the go-ahead.” As dominating as I could be, I wanted her to know that she was in control of the situation. It was all her.
“I know.” She looked up at me through her lashes. “I would never think that you would do something without my consent. Is that what this is about?”
I released her and began pacing, blowing out a slow breath. “I don’t want you to think that just because I’m a biker, I take whatever I want from a woman even if they tell me no. I’ve never been like that. Most of the guys in my dad’s club aren’t like that. Yes, it happens. I’m not going to lie and say it doesn’t, but I want you to know thatIam not like that.”
“I know that.” She held out her arms. “Now come here.”
“Piper.” I stopped pacing.
“Baby, I know you would never hurt me. I know that you would never do anything without my permission. Trust me, everything we’ve done already has been because we both wanted it. You’re not manipulative. You arenotBrody.” Her gaze hardened. “You hear me?”
A breath of relief left me. I knew I wasn’t him. I wasn’t like him at all.
“Now come here. Please.”
I charged for her, crashing into her and messing up her hair.
“You never have to worry about me thinking that of you,” she said, her voice muffled by my shirt. “I promise.”
I gripped her hair, tugging her head back. “I love you,” I said, my voice firm.
“I loveyou.” She frowned. “But why did that sound angry?”
“It wasn’t…I’m not…” I huffed again. “Fuck. If we weren’t in a public parking lot, I’d have my cock inside you right about now.” But it was still too early in the evening for that to happen. Especially when the parking lot was filled with cars.
Piper gave me a small smile, her cheeks turning pink.
“I didn’t know how you felt,” I blurted.
“I love my parents.” She sighed, hugging an arm around my middle. “I love yours and I love our friends. But I didn’t want them to ask me how I was doing. I wanted them to just be there. I wasn’t ready to talk about it. I haven’t been ready at all. Not until you came home. I just wanted to sit there in silence knowing those I loved understood my need for that. But that never happened. It just…I don’t know. I’m not making sense.”
“We can sit in silence for as long as you need.” I cupped her cheek. “If you want to talk, we can. If you want to light shit on fire, we can. If you want to fuck so damn hard, the walls shake, we can do that too.”
A husky laugh left her.
My thumb grazed under her jaw, pushing her head back. “I mean it, Piper. Whatever you want to do, we can do it. I can even talk to some of the guys and see if they have an old vehicle that you can destroy if you want.”
“You think that would help?” she asked softly.
I gave her a small smile. “Maybe. Maybe not. If it doesn’t work, we can find something else that does. We can keep trying until you feel better. That’s all I want. I’m not going to ask you how you’re feeling. The answer is obvious. Brody was a dick and he almost took something from you that was never his to take in the first place.”
“Thank you,” she whispered.
“You don’t have to thank me.” I kissed her forehead. “Ever.”
I looked down at her, expecting her to say something but when she didn’t and was suddenly closed off, my stomach clenched. “What is it?”
“It’s nothing.” She went to pull away from me, but I caught her arm.
“Talk to me.”
“Are you okay?” she finally asked me.
“Why wouldn’t I be?” But I knew why she was asking. We hadn’t talked about what I had done or even gone through while being locked up. Whenever I closed my eyes at night, I kept thinking that I would wake up in the morning, back in that hell. That being with her had only been a dream. I couldn’t imagine being put away for years. The time I had been gone, was long enough.
“I love you.” Piper placed her hands on my chest. “You know that right?”
I only nodded, my throat suddenly working over a hard lump.
