When we both finally calmed down, I was still inside of her with my mouth fused to hers.

“Thank you, pet. Thank you for that gift,” I whispered.

Ainsley broke the kiss, throwing her arms around my shoulders and hugging me.

“I got you, baby.” I wrapped my arms around her and slid off the bed. I carried her to the bathroom and into the shower before turning on the water.

Placing her gently on her feet, I removed the condom, tied it off, and dropped it in the garbage.

We spent the next hour washing each other, touching, and kissing. I realized then that I could easily fall for her. Maybe I already had. I wasn’t sure. Could it happen this fast? I didn’t have much experience with love, never being in love before, but I had seen friends fall in love or reclaim their love. I wished there was a book on this. It would help. But there wasn’t, so for now, I would consider the possibility and just continue dating Ainsley.

My next goal was to get her to trust me enough to share her voice with me. Even if it was a few words at a time, hearing her speak was all I wanted.

Ainsley

After our shower, Cyrusdried me off, keeping me close. It was like as soon as we had sex, something switched between us. He constantly touched me. Even hours later when we were driving to wherever it was that he was taking me for our date. His hand was currently cupping my inner thigh. It was a firm hold but not too tight. It made me feel safe and secure, knowing that he wouldn’t hurt me. I wasn’t sure how I knew that, but I could feel a part of him reaching out to me. It was a part I needed. A part I was sure he didn’t share with too many people, if anyone at all. I knew because I felt it too. I had that same part and kept it close and hidden.

Cyrus’s hand moved higher up my thigh, reminding me of what we had done earlier that day. We didn’t have sex again, but I hoped we would again and soon.

“You’re thinking about something, babe.”

I slowly turned my head to face him, hugging his arm.

His gaze flicked to mine. “You good?”

I nodded, giving him a small smile.

“You sure?”

I nodded again.

“Good.” He looked back out at the road ahead of us. “I meant what I said. Thank you for what you gave me.”

My heart stuttered. Cyrus wasn’t your typical guy. I never met one who thanked someone for sex.

“You’re probably wondering why I thanked you.” He glanced at me. “Aren’t you?”

I shrugged.

“I know you’ve been through hell and that sex was off the table for you for a while. So the fact that you trust me enough to give me your body, means something to me, Ainsley.”

I sighed.

“You know it’s true.”

Maybe it was.

Cyrus never said anything more on the subject and turned on the music instead. “Choose whatever you want to listen to, pet.”

I put on something that spoke volumes to me. It hit somewhere deep in my soul, add to the fact that even though it wasn’t Cyrus’s type of music he usually listened to, he never said a word about it.

“Here’s To Starting Over” by Asking Alexandria pumped through the speakers. While it was milder than what I usually listened to, it was a favorite song and one I listened to regularly.

“And here I thought you only liked that black metal stuff,” Cyrus teased.

I laughed, shaking my head. I tapped his arm, getting his attention and leaned against the door.I like all music, but metal is my favorite. It speaks to me more than others do.

He nodded. “Do you understand everything they say too?”
