“Did you need me to drive down?”

My heart warmed at the thought. “No. Thank you though. If I do, I’ll let you know.”

“Okay, I love you.”

“I love you too.”

“Call me in a few days and let me know how it goes.”

“I’ll do that.” We said our goodbyes and while I felt a little better after talking to her, I was still worried about Sammy’s reaction. I just prayed that my baby and I could survive it. Whatever his reaction may be.

When I arrived at Rouge, my stomach roiled. Clearly, morning sickness didn’t just happen in the morning.

I quickly parked, opened the door, and threw up everything I had in my stomach. Which wasn’t much. I hadn’t been able to keep anything down all afternoon.

“Amber?”

I stiffened, my head snapped up, and I saw Shawnee standing a few feet away. I wiped my mouth with a napkin I had brought from home. I made myself a little care package packed with napkins, crackers, a bottle of water, and a toothbrush with toothpaste, since I couldn’t call in sick. Especially now that I had to save money to take care of my baby. My stomach tumbled. I still couldn’t wrap my head around the fact that I was pregnant. With Sammy’s baby.

“Are you okay?” she asked gently.

I grabbed my bags and left the car. “Yeah.”

“Are you sure?” She frowned, concern apparent in her voice.

Before I could answer, a loud rumble of engines sounded. Several motorcycles pulled into the parking lot but one stuck out from the bunch. It was a bike that I had been on several times already but the time that I remembered the most was when Sammy first took me on a ride. Especially when it ended in sex.

That specific bike pulled to a stop, the engine silencing. Sammy took off his helmet, his eyes finding mine.

I should have gone up to him like I usually did but instead, I tucked my head and headed toward the entrance of the club. He wouldn’t like that I did that, but I needed to collect my bearings first.

“Did you and Sammy have a fight?” Shawnee asked, following me.

“No.” My stomach twisted, clenching and rolling as a fresh wave of nausea erupted through me. I picked up my pace, practically running to the bathroom.

I knew Sammy was going to question why I didn’t greet him like I always did. I also knew that I needed to tell him that I was pregnant. But first, I needed to not cause a scene by throwing up everywhere.

When I rushed into the bathroom, I was thankful no one else was in there. Bounding into a stall, I dropped to my knees just as my stomach emptied into the toilet.

“Geezus, Amber. What the hell is going on?” Shawnee demanded from behind me.

Once my stomach calmed down, I leaned against the wall of the stall and brought my knees up to my chest.

“You’re pregnant.” She crouched beside me. “Aren’t you?”

I nodded, my eyes suddenly welling. So many emotions slammed into me. I wasn’t expecting them and they took my breath away.

“I’m assuming it’s Sammy’s?” she asked gently.

I nodded again, my throat working over a hard lump.

“Good.” She stood. “I’d hate to deal with him if the baby wasn’t his.”

I stared at her. “What do you mean?”

“Girl, that man is beyond obsessed with you. We all see it.”
