Imake sure Alex is good before I leave with my brother, Khalani, Leo, and Colton. I’m currently sandwiched between Colton and Leo in the back.
“You didn’t have to hit him,” I scold Aiden.
He looks at me through the rearview mirror. “Yes, I did. He told me the other day, and he knows the silent treatment that I gave him what it meant. And I’m sorry if you feel like it was wrong of me, but Dad is going to kill him.”
I wring my hands in my lap. Leo places the cardigan over my thighs and lifts my legs over his long legs so I can be more comfortable.
I smile at him as Colton raises his arm so I can lean on his side.

“I hate to say it, but Aiden’s right. If Aiden didn’t punch him in his shit, one of us would have hit him, eventually. It was bound to happen,” Leo says.
I grimace. “His face is all swollen and his lip must hurt.”
“He’ll live,” Aiden quips.
“He struck Smiley in the face. I can’t believe him. Why?” Khalani chimes in.
“I think it’s because your sister-in-law rode his cock, and he thinks she still belongs to him. He wasn’t sold on the idea,” Colton says.
I stiffen because how does everything explode in my face all at once all the time?
“That and the fact that Smiley has fallen for Lucy,” Leo says.

Khalani turns around and looks at me with a soft expression. “I know Alex, and the way he was looking at you makes me think he is battling his feelings. He has never looked at any girl like that. I agree with Leo and it’s because I have known Alex for a long time. Anyway, where have you guys been hanging out? The other night doesn’t count.”
I bite my lip when I tell them. “His apartment in the city.”
“He took you there?” Colton asks.
My head turns in his direction. “Yeah.”
Colton sucks his teeth. “Yep. He’s a goner. Totally pussy whipped. Now, I’m convinced. He’s never taken anyone there.”
Aiden speaks up. “You need to come clean with him, sis.”
“Whoa, whoa, wait a minute,” I say, raising my hands. “I had this conversation with Alex. He made it clear that he could never be serious with anyone because of him being the leader of the East Hillside Kings. It would make that person a target, according to him.”
“He has a point, and I agree with him, but it doesn’t mean he doesn’t have feelings for you. The way he stepped up to Mase. Fucker has balls,” Leo says.
“Speaking of Mase,” I say. “I’m spending the night to watch over him. Aiden banged him up pretty bad.”
“No,” Aiden snaps.
“Yes,” I challenge. “I don’t care if you’re pissed at him, Aiden. Yes, it was fucked up what happened, but he didn’t know I was pregnant. I didn’t say anything after he decided he couldn’t tell you because he was afraid of exactlythis. You kicking his ass.”
