He grins. “What? It’s the truth. When have you seen her wear anything other than khakis and a tank? She is going to stick out at Hillside University. The staff are probably going to think she will rob them.”
“You are being an asshole.”
“Chill, man,” Leo says to Colton.
“Relax, she will be fine. Khalani and Lucy will make sure she fits in.” Aiden says.
“Aaron wants to take her out. He seems interested.” I point out.
“Yeah, for an easy lay. He must assume she is desperate and is lucky he even gave her his number,” Colton quips.
“I hate you,” Linda seethes.
Colton shrugs, and Leo gives him a look to back off.
We pull up to a Ferrari dealer and my eyes snap to the same Ferrari that I saw on our trip to Yas Island at the Ferrari Park.
“He didn’t,” I say as I exit the SUV.
“Oh, he did,” Leo says.
“Mase, it’s beautiful,” I say with tears in my eyes.
“Anything for you,princessa.”
“Ready to go back home in your bad bitch car?”
I nod, smiling and giving him a kiss. “Thank you. Will you drive back with me?”
“You didn’t think I was letting you drive back alone, did you? I will never leave you. Ever.”
“I love you.”
“I know,princessa. I love you, too. Now let’s get back to Hillside, we have a championship to win.”
We get back on the road after signing papers and getting the keys. Our family is growing, and alliances are being built. The Kings are finding their queens. I have my King and another King that is devoted to me. One that is my soul mate and another that is my protector. The East and West of Hillside are tied but there is one girl that I worry about. One that is now part of my family. There is a secret she hides and a pain I recognize in her eyes. She thinks I don’t see it, but that is further from the truth. It is there festering like a wound that won’t heal.
“What are you thinking about?”
We are on the road and the smell of the red leather in the cabin of the Ferrari smells like heaven. Like a pair of brand-new shoes. The engine on the beautiful car is purring down the road with the blue sky and open road on a sunny day. The day is beautiful but I’m lost in my thoughts.
“Just thinking about Linda.”
“What about her?”
“She is hurting, and Colton is always messing with her. She took her pills last night, and she was like a zombie.”
“She’s still depressed about Ramon.”
“It has been too long for her to be on those pills and alone in her room all the time. I know when someone is depressed and does not care.”
“You think she will hurt herself.”
I shake my head. “No. But I know grief and pain when I see it. I saw it on Khalani.”
Mase frowns. “I know you don’t like to talk about it but are you still hurting, baby? Is there anything you want me to do? I’ll do anything, just name it.”
I have decided about when I want to try again to have a baby. Mason has given me a home, and we are married, and I want a family.
“I want wedding pictures and I want you to get me pregnant our senior year of college.”
He smiles. “Done. Until then, we have the college experience. You and Khalani can help Linda out in the meantime to adjust. I assured Alex we would take care of her. The guys and I have some business dealings to work out. So, the timing is good.”
“What business dealings?”
“Building our kingdom, mi reina. There will be more threats, and we need to be ready for them.”
We will. No one messes with our family. No one.
