“Run. And if you’re sensible, you won’t fucking stop to let me catch you.”

My heart lunges into my throat before I take a step back. The cool evening air whips around me, making my skin erupt in goosebumps and sending a violent shiver down my spine. Although that could be courtesy of the danger that emanates from the boy on his knees before me.

“Three,” he starts, and I back up again. “Two.”

“Nikolas.” His nostrils flare at the sound of his name falling from my lips.

“One.”

A shriek rips from my lips and I take off as he jumps to his feet to follow me.

I don’t look back until my feet hit the freezing water of the sea, and when I do, ripping his clothes off as he strides toward me, his long legs eat up the space much faster than I anticipated.
