“I am offering.”I looked over at Stefano.“You can take these drinks back over to our brothers.I’m going to stay here.”

“My name?”she said, blushing.
“Yeah, is that something that you don’t hear very often?”I wondered what her problem was.Why was she acting like I’d asked her what her social security number was?
“My name is Tara.”

“Okay,” she said, looking me over.“What happened to your face?”

I started laughing then.“No.Are the police looking for Mike Tyson?Are the police looking for—”
“Oh, you’re a boxer,” she said.And I shrugged.If that’s what she wanted to believe, I’d let her believe it.I didn’t want her to know that I entered an amateur fighting match and got my ass beat.
“So what do you do, Tara?”
“Well, I actually teach English as a second language.”
