“What the hell are you doing?”Stefano said as soon as we entered Sienna’s house.
“What are you talking about?”I glared at him.
“Valentina, Gabriella, Ella, you remember my brother Stefano, right?”
“Hi, Stefano,” Valentina said with a small smile.Gabriella and Ella just nodded.
“Hey, I need to speak to Sam for a second.You can go on right through there to the living room.Everyone’s getting situated,” Stefano said, pulling me into the corridor.“Sam, what the hell do you think you’re doing?”
“What are you talking about?What’s the problem?”
“Why did you bring them to Sienna’s weekly dinner?”
“What?She said we can bring whomever we want.”
“Yeah, but you’re not bringing the girl you’re dating, she’s a case.”
I rolled my eyes.“Dude, does it matter?”
“You know, if Elise and Sienna found out, they would not be happy.”
“Yeah.Well, I’m not going to tell them.Are you?”
“It’s just too much bringing Valentina to a family event like this.It’s one thing us boys meeting up with her because we all know this is a case, but Elise and Sienna are going to get …”

“You’re totally falling for her, aren’t you?”

Stefano rolled his eyes.“Oh my God, dude.You’re too much.”

“Has this got to do with Patti?”he asked, and I frowned.
“Don’t mention her name to me.”
“She wants to see us again.”
“I don’t want to see her.She’s full of bullshit, and you know it.”
“I know she’s asking a lot, but she’s going to contact Sergio and Santino.And if she contacts them before we say something, then the shit will hit the fan.You know they’re not going to be happy.”
I let out a deep sigh.“Okay.I know that.Can we talk about this later?I really don’t think this is the right place.”
“Okay.Well, I just wanted to tell you.Sienna and Elise think that—”
“Oh my gosh, do you speak to them about everything?”
“Yeah, I kind of do.You know I have no secrets from Elise, and Sienna’s like our stepmom.”
“I know.I know, but she’s not.Dad never married her, you know.”
