“Vague posting justmust be his thing,” Judith said with a shrug.

“But it means something.”

“He’s fishing for people to ask what he means by that, like...oh, look, like Emily’s comment. She says ‘whatever do you mean by that.’ She’s fishing, too.”

“What’s the...oh, god.”

“Oh god what, Trina?”

“It was the day of his accident.”

“His accident on Willow Creek Road,” Judith added. “Something tells me that he went to tell her exactly what he meant.”

“And she’s not returning my calls or texts or messages,” Katrina said. “What about you?”

“No. No way. I’m not sending her a message; she knows I only tolerate her.”

“But you invite her here for dinner,” Katrina pointed out.

“With you,” Justin replied. “Because we know you two have been joined at the hip for the past six or so months.”

“Six or so months,” Judith said softly, reaching for Justin’s phone again.

“What are you doing, Jude?” Justin asked her as she scrolled, and scrolled, and scrolled again.

“Six months. Bam.” Judith smirked. “When Emily posted her thank you for his friend request.” She looked over at Justin. “I told you she was a bitch. A million times over I have told you this.”

“And a million times I have agreed with you, but...Trina? Are you okay?”

Katrina could feel bile creeping up into her throat. “I can’t believe this.”

“I can,” Judith stated. “Just sayin.”

“What do you need?”

“Answers,” Katrina replied. “I need answers.”

And she knew exactly who she needed them from.

“Oh, really?” Katrina teased.
