“What gave you that idea?” I asked.

“Well, be honest the reason why you like Nick is because he reminds you of that boy,” she said, “And if that’s the reason, then I don’t support your choice.”

“That wasn’t my first impression of him,” I defended, “Sure he looks like him but that’s not why I’m attracted to him. Besides Nick is different, he has much kinder and determined eyes than the other boy.”

She looked at me with eyes that seemed to say she wasn’t convinced.

“Still, I’ve already promised the suitors a chance with you,” she said.

“You don’t…”

“I’m sorry, I’m that mother that keeps up public appearances,” she raised her hand stopping me mid-sentence, “However, I want you to take this as a test.”

“A test?”

“As proof if you’re really in love with Nick Parker or if you’re just overwhelmed with lust,” she smiled, “As I said, they’ve been tested and trusted. Unless, the Aria Wolfe lacks the guts to defend her claim?”

I kept quiet. She got me there.

“I don’t need to prove anything to you,” I said.

Thedarkness returned to her eyes, “What?”

“Besides, if it’s about marriage, why not bother Maria?” I crossed.

“Your sister is just 18,” she sighed, “One month, Aria Wolfe, that’s all I’m going to give you to prepare. I trust you’ll be good?”

“Yes… mother,” I bowed slowly.

“Good,” she clapped her hands together, “Now then, you didn’t offer me tea, how mean of you.”

I dialed the front desk, “Alyson, a cup of tea, no sugar, just cream.”

“Alright ma’am,” Alyson replied.

“Aww, you still remember. Thank you, sweetie,” my mother said.

After a few minutes Alyson arrived and served the tea.

“Beautiful as ever Alyson.” Mother complimented, “What’s the trick to such a fine toned body?”

“Yoga ma’am,” Alyson replied as she poured the tea, “Will that be all?”

“Yes, that will be all,” mother said as she took a sip, “Thank you.” Alyson curtseyed and left.

“By the way, does Nick know about your urges?” mother asked.

“He does.”

“Has he talked to you about it? His feelings about it?”

“Well,” I leaned back and let out a sigh, “No, he hasn’t and honestly, I don’t think he’ll want to be with me.”

“Oh, that’s sad,” she said, “Oh, well, look forward to the suitors then.” Nick

Well that was unexpected. Who’d have thought that the client I met was actually Aria’s mother.

“So that’s why she looked familiar” I remember asking myself that when, Aria called her mom.
