His crusted lips turned up into an amused smile. “What? You fucking her now? Let me find out Nicole throwing pussy around everywhere. Might have to get my turn.”

I pulled my pistol out of my drawer and sat it on my desk. I spun it around and stopped it when the barrel pointed at Tae. “You see, this meeting isn’t about who’s fucking Nicole, but about who fucked over her. I have a special bullet for anyone who’s ever hurt her and those who harbor thoughts of hurting her in their mind. You wouldn’t know anything about that, would you?”

Visions of Nicole’s bruises had me feeling murderous. I hadn’t spent much time with her because brutal energy flowed through me whenever I saw her fading bruises. Until I got my hands on Desi, I would forever want to fuck shit up. Right now, Tae was my only link to him.

Tae’s voice trembled when he said, “Listen Vito, I’m not shitting you. Desi is cool with me, but I don’t know where he is.”

“He’s your boy, so give this message to him. His days are numbered.” Before Tae could fix his mouth to say anything that would piss me off, I dismissed him with a wave of my hand. “Get the fuck out of my office.”

Tae bounded to his feet. “I don’t know why you’re putting me in the middle of this. I have enough to deal with. I ain’t got time for this shit.” He walked to the door with an angry scowl marring his face.

“Wait just one minute,” I ordered.

He spun around. “What now?”

I issued a warning. “This isn’t going to be pretty. It will not end well for you or him.”

“That’s y’all shit, man. I don’t have anything to do with that girl.”

“If I find out you’re hiding him or helping him in any way, you will have something to do with it. And the payback you get will be for old and new.”

“After all this time, I thought you had let that old beef go. Besides, who had set who up? It wasn’t like you didn’t sick the Gomez’s on me.”

“Like you said, I ain’t have shit to do with your beef with the Gomez’s. However, you knew someone had a hit on me, and I let you make it with that one. But I ain’t ever squashed a beef in my life. Everybody gets what’s coming to them in due time.” I turned my attention to the pistol on my desk, spinning it and stopping it when it pointed in Tae’s direction. “As a reminder, this will not end well for you or him.”

“Yeah, I heard you the first time,” Tae grunted as he walked out of my office, allowing the door to slam closed behind him.

I picked up my burner phone and texted Ishmael to let him know it wouldn’t be long before his Tae problem was over. I then dialed Prosper’s number.

“Yo!” Prosper answered on the second ring, chipper as hell.

“Any word on that problem I asked you to get intel on?”

“Not one peep. I’ve been tracking him for two weeks now. He’s dry on the dark web, not using his credit cards, anything. Sucker hasn’t even used his bank account or credit cards the entire month.”

“Well, Tae just left my office. I rattled the cage, so maybe we’ll be hearing from Desi soon,” I divulged.

Prosper hummed. “Guess we’ll have to wait for the snake to come out of hiding.”

“He’s no snake. He’s a rat, a rat bitch at that,” I grumbled.

Prosper chuckled. “Try not to worry about it. We’ll trap the rat soon.”

“Later.”

I hung up and thought about my rat problem. I didn’t like him walking around, knowing he had threatened my woman’s life. He would not kill her for leaving him. He would not get the chance.

I spun the gun around on my desk again and muttered, “Here, little rat. Here, little rat. Come out, come out wherever you are….”
