I release her legs, then lean over her and press my forehead against hers. "Would it terrify you if I said I love you right now?"
The words spill out before I can even think about them. I've known this woman less than a week, and I'm already feeling things I never have, and I don't want to lose them. Whatever it takes— money, a ring— I don't care. I'd give her the entire fucking world if she asked just to make her stay.
She laughs through her strangled breathing. "Reed, you don't even know me."
I shake my head. "I think I know enough."
She pushes me off her, then turns to her side to look at me. "I tell you what; we'll talk about this in the morning. I'm delirious and shouldn't be trusted to have a serious conversation right now."
I bring my face to hers so our noses touch. "Tomorrow?"
She nods slowly, letting her eyes flutter shut. "Tomorrow."
Wrapping my arms around her, I inhale the scent of her hair and smile. It may not be the promise of forever, but it's more than tonight, so I'll take it.
