“Well, what are we going to do, then? We can’t just stand around and let it continue,” Carl asks, looking to both Teddy and me.

“First,” I speak before Teddy can. “We go meet with Andrew. Once we have all of this shit handled, we will deal with Emil. If all goes to plan, hopefully he’ll be thrown in jail or fucking killed which will make shit easier. I don’t want those girls hurt. Hell, he may not even be keeping them there for all we know. So, for now, we stick to the plan we have. We can’t go in there without more information.”

“So we’re just going to let them suffer?” Julius finally breaks his silence.

“We have no choice right now, Julius. We have to be smart.”

“Fine. Then we move things up. No waiting a couple of weeks. We do this shit tonight.”

I look to Carl, Lucas, and Teddy. When none of them object, I agree. “Tonight it is, then. Let’s go talk to Andrew.”

We pull up to the address Sloan gave us. I was expecting something run-down or on the shadier side of town, but instead, Andrew has basically been hiding in plain sight right in the middle of town.

“You ready?” Teddy asks as the twins exit the car.

I don’t know how to tell him I’m not, that I want to change my mind, but it’s too late, so instead I slip my brave mask back in place. “I’m ready.”

We walk into the lobby, then look at the plaques on the wall telling us which direction to go. The receptionist at the front stares at us, but I know she won’t say anything. The sight of the twins covered in tattoos with their permanent “fuck off” faces doesn’t leave anyone much room to want to ask questions.

We turn right and follow the hall until we reach room twelve. I wait until all of the boys are behind me before I knock. When everyone is in place, I knock hard enough to be heard, but not hard enough to startle him, then place my finger over the peephole.

The door opens a few inches, and Andrew’s eye looks through the crack. “Open up, Andrew. We need to talk.”

He looks to Teddy, Lucas, and Julius, then back to me. “I don’t think so.”

I cross my arms over my chest. “I can wait here all night, Andrew. Either open up now, or I’ll find a way to get in. Not smart to get placed on the first floor.” I look around him as much as I can. “Is that a window over there?” I grin.

He looks behind him, then back to me. Reluctantly, he finally unhooks the chain and opens the door.

“It’s your time to shine, pig,” Lucas says, plopping onto his bed.

Andrew tries to keep his eyes on all us, but he can’t. He’s outnumbered and he knows it which means he’ll do whatever we ask.

“Everything is happening tonight,” Teddy states, sitting in a chair across from the bed.

“I thought I had a couple of weeks,” Andrew remarks.

I take over talking. “It’s tonight or never. Are you ready or not?”

“I just have to show up and arrest the guy, right?”

I nod. “I already have the chief on board. He’ll be ready to step in and help if it’s needed,” I lie.

“And what about Cameron?”

“Cameron won’t be a problem,” Teddy says, standing.

Andrew peers at each of us individually for a moment. “I can’t get into anything shady. I need this to be as clean as possible.”

“Worried the job won’t take you back if you get tangled up in a murder?” Lucas smiles from the bed.

“How did you—”

“We know more than you think, Andrew. Just be ready for my call. If you’re a minute late, I’ll make sure you don’t get what you need. Understand?”

He nods. “Fine. I’ll be ready.”

I smile and give him a piece of paper with the address on it. “Come too soon and the deal’s off. Wait for my call.”

“Okay.” He nods again.

I can tell he’s nervous. I’m nervous too, but I won’t let anyone know. This web of shit has grown so much bigger than I expected. I just hope it all goes according to plan.

“We’ll see you later tonight, then,” Teddy says, walking to the door.

Lucas and Julius follow as he goes out the door, but I hang back for a fraction of a second to give Andrew one last warning look. “Don’t fuck this up.”
