“Got it,” he whispers back, and I can feel him shift away from me slightly, talking under his breath to Ford and Camden, passing on my instructions as I continue to watch their interaction.

“Arden Dálaigh we meet at last,” Jakub says, removing his mask. His brothers following suit.

“If it isn’t the famous Collector’s son, Jakub Brov,” Arden replies, a sneer pulling up his lip.

“You’reArden?” Christy says, her head snapping around as she stares at him like she’s seen a ghost. How the fuck does she know who he is?

“The one and only. Hello, Christy. It’s good to meet you at last,” he says, his assessing gaze flicking between Christy and the girl she calls Thirteen.

“I can’t say that the feeling is mutual,” she responds, her eyes hardening as her gaze flits from Arden to Carrick and Lorcan who flank him. He scowls at that, and I can’t help but feel proud of her.

Carrick laughs. “Feisty,” he says, removing his mask and rolling his head on his shoulders. “You’ve got some fire in you, Red. Far more than Thirteen does.”

“Shut the fuck up!” Leon snarls, earning him a death glare. “Don’t look at her!”

“We’ll do whatever the fuck we want,” Lorcan replies, smirking. “Thirteenbelongs to us.”

“Thehellshe does,” Jakub snaps back.

“Oh didn’t she tell you?” Carrick questions, delight dancing in his black eyes as he looks at Thirteen. “We’ve come to cash in her debt, haven’t we,cailleach?”

Jakub flinches, but it’s the only discernible reaction to what is a surprising turn of events. At least for me. Who is this woman exactly? What fucking debt does she owe the Deana-dhe? What kind of name is Thirteen? And why is Carrick calling her a witch? I wrack my brain trying to work it all out.

“Grim, what the fuck is happening?” Beast hisses, and I can feel his impatience in the way he grips my hips in his large hands. I know him, any minute now he’s going to manhandle me out of the way and do some crazy alpha-male, chest-beating bullshit. Not today. Today we do things my way.

I turn around and glare at him before resting my gaze on Camden, ignoring Beast’s question as I bark out a command. “I want you to go back to the van, wait for us. Shit’s going down and we need a quick getaway. The minute we put those bastards down, I want to be gone. There are too many sick fucks here tonight and I have no plans on dealing with them as well.”

Camden’s bright blue eyes flash with concern. “I came to fight, Grim. Let me fight.”

“Bro, Asia was pissed as fuck that I came, let alone you tagging along. She will have my arse if anything happens to you. Go to the van, we won’t be long,” Ford says, hiding his concern behind a grin.

Camden shakes his head. “The fuck I will.”

Beast rounds on him. “Do as you’re fucking told and go get the fucking van ready like Grim asked,” he hisses.

“Fine, you old fuck!” Camden grinds out before grasping Ford’s shoulder. “Do not fucking die because you know Asia willkillmeif I come back with you in a bodybag.”

“Just go. We got this,” Ford reassures him.

“Fine, but if you ain’t out within half an hour, I’m coming back for you no matter what,” he says firmly, raising a brow at Beast before twisting on his feet and jogging back the way we came.

“It’s like managing a bunch of fuckingdelinquents,” I mutter, turning my attention back to the standoff in the courtyard and ignoring Ford’s chuckle at my expense.

“Seriously, what the fuck are we waiting for?” Beast grumbles.

“I’ve learnt to trust my gut over the years, it’s never steered me wrong, and right now my gut is telling me to wait. So we wait.”

“Got it…Boss,” Beast adds, knowing full well I fucking hate him calling me that.

Biting back a caustic response, I return my attention to what’s unfolding between the opposing sides. There’s a time to fight, and there’s a time to gather information. Right now, Christy is where I can see her. She’s relatively safe and no one is going anywhere. Plus I’ve got a gun; if any fucker moves towards her threateningly, they’re dead.

“Come here, Thirteen,” Arden says, crooking his finger at the woman everyone seems to be so interested in.

“Stay where you are!” Jakub snaps, glancing over at her.

She shakes her head at Jakub, pleading with her eyes. Though she doesn’t say a word.

Leon, the Mask who has a similar, batshit crazy presence as Carrick, holds his hand up. “Stay put!”
