“Go. I’ll be right behind you,” Cyrus said.

“I’ll stay with him,” Ozni offered.

Foi’s body felt hot and he wanted nothing more than to drop down in front of the incubus as well, but he shoved it aside. He ripped his shirt off and shifted in the next second. His paws hit the concrete floor and he headed for the door where Porter’s scent lingered faintly.

It was locked and he growled, throwing his body against it hard. The door refused to budge and he reared up, ready to bash it again.

“You shifted prematurely there,” Arden said, standing next to him.

Foi huffed, but it was all he could do. The wolf had demanded to be let out. He was barely holding onto control. He needed to get to Jaygen and Porter.

“I know they’re important to you, but rushing and acting irrationally will only hurt them,” Arden said calmly.

Foi wished he had the man’s same calmness, then maybe he could effectively protect his people. But that wasn’t Foi; he was hot-headed, wild, and stupid. It was why he needed them.

The dragon shifter typed in the code and the door opened. Foi wanted to race past and find his men, but he forced himself to slow down and scent the air. There were entirely too many, but over all of them, he picked up the familiar scent of Porter. In the opposite direction was Amy’s. Arden’s gaze bore into him, and Foi settled a little; he needed to hold it together as long as he could.

Foi closed his eyes and pushed his wolf back, and changed back into his human form. “Amy is that way.”

Arden nodded. “I’ll go check on her. You aren’t alone anymore, Foi, and as long as you keep your wits about you, you won’t lose them either.”

Foi’s teeth sank into his lip. The sharp prick of pain followed by the taste of his own blood was the only thing that kept him from lashing out at the idea he might lose any of the men he’d grown so close to.

“Go,” Arden said as he ran in the opposite direction and Foi turned away. He shifted back into his wolf form. His senses were heightened in his human form, but nothing surpassed the wolf’s sense of smell.

Maybe fate decided to look favorably upon him because the next door he came upon was left cracked open. But he couldn’t pick out Porter’s scent. There were too many supernatural creatures and they overwhelmed the room with their strong emotions.

Foi shook his head and entered the dark room. Cages varying in sizes holding shifters in their animal forms and other supernatural creatures. He didn’t have the time to take it all in as a roar pierced the room and echoed off the other cages.

Jaygen.

He knew instantly it was his tiger. Foi raced around the cages until he stopped short of one holding a huge tiger with golden stripes and piercing blue eyes he knew all too well. Foi’s blood rushed, blocking out all sound and he stood there frozen in place.

Jaygen slammed his immense body against the cage and his sharp claws scraped against the metal bars. He was wild; gone was the controlled and calm man Foi had grown to expect. What have they done to him?

Another roar rattled around the room and finally shook Foi from his daze. He shook his head. Foi tried to take a step toward Jaygen, but the thick oppression of his alpha aura kept him at bay. Foi fought with his body’s natural reaction to submit to the alpha shifter. This wasn’t the man he’d give control to.No, this was a wild beast in front of him, not Jaygen.

Foi growled and lunged at the cage, his body hit against it doing nothing. The cell didn’t so much as move. He shifted back into his human body and glared at Jaygen.

“Come on shift back already,” Foi said.

Jaygen didn’t, he growled, baring his long sharp teeth and hit the cage again. Foi pulled at his hair. “I can’t fucking understand that. Just shift back, asshole!”

Foi’s heart clenched painfully. Jaygen’s eyes were different, almost wild, but he knew the stubborn ass was still in there.

“He was probably given a vex drug,” a man said.

Foi glanced over to a cage on the far wall. The man didn’t look their way but he was sure it was him who’d spoken. He stayed curled up. Foi growled and glared at Jaygen. The vex drug forced shifters into their animal forms, but it couldn’t force them to stay in it if their will was stronger. And if anyone could overpower a fucking drug it was Jaygen.

“Don’t be a pussy cat, come on,” Foi yelled at Jaygen, slapping the cage.

Jaygen roared and Foi’s ears throbbed from the noise. Shit, they didn’t have time for this shit. But as he continued to try and get Jaygen to shift back, more hope started to slip between his fingers.

Foi was the feral one, the last one of them that could possibly help another shifter tame their beast side but here he was giving it his all.

“Please Jaygen,” Foi said. His throat felt as if it was collapsing and getting words out was damn near impossible.

Jaygen paced in front of him. Foi’s hand wrapped around the bars. He needed to think of something, anything to get the man back. He couldn’t force Jaygen to shift back. Fuck if only Arden had come with him, he could do it. Foi pressed his head against the bars.Think, fucking think already.
