Cyrus laughed, handing over his card. "You know the pin. Porter and I are going to check out that little shop down the street. Just call me when you're ready or meet us."

"You're both so bossy," he grumbled, but there was a smile on his lips.

Porter and Cyrus walked down the street chuckling after he stalked off across the road. Cyrus took his time, letting Porter take everything in.

"Do you like it here?"

"I only saw part of it the night I came. And it wasn't a good part," Porter mumbled. "Now, though, seeing it all lit up and alive? It's not bad at all. I'm getting used to being around supernaturals."

"I can tell. You were terrified of us at first."

"Yeah, that's true. Now, I know you're all just as insane as humans." Porter grinned. "And just as interesting and boring and funny. Honestly, I don't know what all of the fear and bullshit is about. I heard all kinds of things for years and none of it has turned out to be true."

"People fear what they don't know. They hate us because we're something they've heard stories about, but they don't know us. At least you've tried and you keep trying."

"You're my friends. The first I've had in years." Porter smiled at Cyrus. "Besides, I think-"

"Porter?"

They both turned and looked at a man who leaned against the brick wall of a smaller, quieter brothel. It was one Cyrus had started out working in, but he hadn't stuck around there for long. He looked the man up and down, taking in the expensive black suit and the gun on his waist.

"Porter, is that you?"

Cy glanced at Porter. "Who is he?"

"No one." He shook his head, but he was gripping Cyrus' hand so tightly that his nails were digging in. "I don't know him."

"I know it's you, Porter." The man started walking toward them. "Your father is looking for you everywhere.” His gaze dragged up and down Porter’s body. “Fuck, if your dad could see you now,” the man grinned. He grabbed his crotch crudely. “I could keep this between the two of us if you get on your knees and blow me. Looking that soft you’re pretty much still begging for it, huh?”

Cy’s heart thudded in his chest. “Who the fuck are you!” he snapped, his claws itching to rip free. “What is he talking about, Porter?” He glanced to his side and the human was gone. “Porter?”

At some point, Porter had turned and was racing down an alley. The man that was bothering them turned and chased after the human. Cyrus blinked, taking only a second to get his brain in gear before he sprinted after them. He could hear arguing and fighting as he raced down the corridor. When Cy turned the corner, the man was on top of Porter, a gun pressed to his head.

"Stop fighting me, bitch!"

"Get off of me, Alex! Get off!" Porter thrashed around, the heel of his hand colliding with the man’s nose. Blood splattered on his Porter, but it didn’t stop him from fighting.

Alex curled a hand around Porter’s shirt, ripping the delicate fabric. "I have to bring you back in one piece, but your father was very clear that if you fight," he struck Porter with the gun and the human cried out, "we can get ugly."

Cyrus ran for the man, but he turned around and fired. The bullet ripped through Cy’s arm and he gasped as blood ran down his skin. His eyes narrowed, and he was ready to go again when a flash of fur whipped past him.

Foi’s growl filled the alley as he bit into the man’s arm. The wolf tore it clean off, blood spraying over the ground and a brick wall as he screamed. But Foi didn’t stop. His sharp teeth flashed as he bit into his legs, his torso, ripping him limb from limb. He bit into the man's neck silencing his screams but the wolf kept ripping, tearing, growling as if he was possessed.

"He's dead, Foi. It's okay." Cyrus laid a hand on Foi’s thick, black fur and caressed his back. “We’re safe now.”

Foi stopped, panting as he turned and stared up at Cyrus. The wolf finally dropped the hand that was gnawing on and sat down. He whined softly, nuzzling his head against Cyrus’s hand and looking for comfort. The incubus pet him slowly, reassuring him softly that everything was going to be okay.

Cyrus glanced at Porter. He'd scrambled away, his back pushed up against a building as he stared at Foi with huge eyes. Foi turned to look at Porter and another whine left his lips.

"It's okay," Cy told Porter. "He's not going to hurt you."

"I didn't think he would, I'm just...shocked," he whispered. Porter held out a shaky hand and Foi moved toward him slowly before he nudged Porter’s hand with his head. Porter pet him gently. "Are you okay?"

Foi shifted and sat on the ground, Porter's hand still resting on his head. "Am I okay? You're bleeding." He touched Porter's cheek where a gash now marred his beautiful skin. "That bastard did that?" The human nodded. "I should have made it slower," he growled.

"Hey, not now, you two." Cyrus glanced around. "We don't exactly need any questions about this shit."

Foi held up the remnants of his clothes. "I can't go get the car when I'm like this."
