Janek’s eyes narrowed. “What the fuck are you doing to me?” the man snapped.

Arden could see he was struggling, but it wasn’t getting him nowhere. Whatever Micha was doing, he wasn’t letting Janek go. The dragon cried out in frustration, but Micha stepped forward.

“I’m sorry,” Micha whispered.

Janek shouted as he turned the palm of his hands toward his chest. Ice shot from his hands and one spike after the other hit him in the chest. His eyes widened as blood formed in the corner of his mouth, but Micha didn’t stop. Arden watched as Janek was practically ripped apart. The nephilim stopped when Janek fell to his knees, his eyes blank.

“What the fuck?” Bash mumbled. “What did you do to him?”

Micha trembled as he lowered his hand. “I-it’s mind control,” he whispered. “I’ve never… Whenever I tried before, it didn’t work. But..but..”

Bash gathered Micha into his arms as Janek crashed to the ground. The moment his body hit the dirt, it was as if the spell was broken and all hell broke loose. Arden turned on the rest of Janek’s followers and the real slaughter began as his mind shattered.

No one is going to touch them. He will wipe out every last soul if that’s what he has to!

Janek was down, but his little minions thought they could continue. And they still outnumbered him and his mates. But none of that mattered as Arden let out a thunderous roar and turned on them all. Instinctively, some of them shrunk back or turned tail and ran. But it was too late.

There was no more Arden. Only his beast existed and the one thing he was good for was the kill.

The enemy was cutdown in a gruesome show. Even those who began to flee were struck down. Lightning stronger than ever crashed into the ground and bounced off Arden as he ripped into shifters left and right.

“Micha are you okay?” Bash asked.

The nephilim nodded, not really caring about himself, his gaze didn’t waver from Arden as he made sure not one person who’d attacked made it out.

“He’s not stopping,” Micha said.

Eldon stood next to him. “Something’s wrong.”

Micha could feel it in the air. Arden was far more vicious than he’d been the entire battle; it was almost like he was only beast.

“Micha, make him shift back and I’ll take care of anyone who comes after him,” Eldon said.

He lifted his hands and shook them out as Micha tried to do the same thing he’d done to Janek. His head throbbed and bile burned the back of his throat. The nephilim turned just in time to empty the contents of his stomach. His vision became spotty as he dry heaved.

“Micha.” Bash shook him.

“Fine,” Micha wheezed out. He wiped his mouth and stared at Arden rampaging in his dragon form. He wasn’t seeing the difference between enemies and allies anymore. The black wolves that were on their side fled and the dragon sent lightning at them.

“You have to do it again,” Eldon said.

Micha lifted his hands again but nothing was happening. He’d never been able to use it before, not when he tried. A slip up here and there perhaps. Moments where he noticed someone suddenly changed their minds or his ex would stop hurting him. But he had never been able to do it on purpose and now they wanted him to do it twice. His fingers trembled as he tried again and again. “Please work.”

Bash growled. “I’ll go after him.”

Spooky grabbed the bear shifter. “And what, die? If Arden hurts any of us—”

“He won’t,” Gamble groaned.

Eldon didn’t look too convinced and Micha’s chest ached for their dragon.

“We don’t know that right now. Look at him,” Eldon said.

“He is Arden. Are you doubting him now?” Bash growled.

Micha pressed a hand to the bear shifter trying to help him calm down. “He’s right, Arden might not recognize us.”

“We are his mates,” Gamble argued. His eyes were focused on Arden but there was uncertainty written all over his face. “What the fuck.”
