They wanted a war? They are going to get it.

The Hurlian strike teams have arrived to lay siege to Mount Westmore, but luckily for my brother and our females, I’ve preplanned for this eventuality. They brought with them an entire convoy of armored vehicles that line the road up to the monastery.

Our pregnant females are in the basement, which is heavily fortified and only accessible by a secret hidden door. I know they are safe, which allows me and my brother to do our work. Cabal cannot fly, but he was a soldier for many years and is still a worthy adversary.

I swoop down and attack, using only my firepower at first to delay their arrival and to let them know I’m here. They’ve arrived to grab my brother. I can overhear their com chatter. They are surprised to find me here.

“How is this even possible?” my brother questions when I return and land on the battlements and give him an update. “How are these teams here on Salo with all these vehicles?”

“They have an enormous spaceship in their fleet that is nothing but troop and vehicle transport, in case they want to invade other planets. I suspect it’s left over from when they held New Earth captive. It allows them to drop in, land, and start operations immediately with heavy siege weapons. The Gravians do not have an extensive space military. They are not like the Xylans, who are well-known for having the largest military in the four sectors. But they are the richest beings in the four sectors, and they are also revered as the birthplace of the multigod religion. They essentially do not require a military since they have no enemies and can call upon the Xylan if they are ever attacked. This is how the Hurlians slipped past the Gravian’s nonexistent planetary defenses and landed.”

My brother’s features morph into a mask of rage. “It is disgusting and profane for these beings to attempt to raid this monastery, this temple of the multigods. This is an intergalactically recognized heritage site as well as a neutral zone.”

“Yes. And they were also ready to kidnap, kill or torture a multigod High Priest. But the Hurlian military is supplied and powered with technology that is a hundred years old. All we need to do is blow up the vehicles at the front and the end of the convoy and they won’t be able to progress or retreat.”

And that’s when I see my brother brought up a crate of anti-tank missiles as well as a next-gen shoulder launcher.

“You have weapons?”

Cabal shrugs. “You never know when you’ll need them. It seems my caution has paid off.”

“Good, we will—”

Suddenly my female is in front of me, tapping on her tablet. “What are you doing here?” I growl. “You should be in the basement. Where is Lyla?”

“Don’t worry. Lyla is with Lorelei in the basement. They are safe. I’ll go down there too in a second, I was trying to capture evidence of this attack for later prosecution. But first the three of us need to do a quick communication with the outside universe, to let them know what the Hurlians are doing here. Everyone will be horrified to learn that Hurlians have landed on Salo and sent in soldiers to attack a multigod temple and a High Priest.”

She motions for Cabal to stand next to me and then she stands on my other side. “Tell the universe what’s happening here.”

Then she lifts her tablet, and I can see that the three of us are live.

I growl and point to the sky behind me. “The Hurlians are here, ready to attack the Monastery of Westmore, because I’m here.” I lift my wings behind me so our audience can see my modifications. “The Hurlians kidnapped me as a baby off Tarvos and tried to turn me into their personal killing machine. I have escaped, with my daughter and they are trying to take me back and kill my brother in the process. They will not win. They are overly confident. They think this is a simple monastery with no defenses, but I am here with my brother, Cabal Firestone, the High Priest of Westmore, and my pregnant human bound. The Hurlians think they have the element of surprise, but I was literally trained how to defeat them. Glory to Tarvos!”

“They’re signaling a cease fire,” my brother shouts out.

“Wait here, I will speak with them.”

And then I step away from the livestream and my bound turns off the tablet, kisses me on my cheek and races for the door, on her way to the basement.

Good, now I can get back to business. I message the Hurlians, using only my mind. I let them know to send their representatives to the front door. I shake my head again at their collective horror at the fact that I’m able to directly hack their com system to reply. Idiots.

Minutes later I’m at the front door. Two of my creators, a male and a female, are on the threshold. Both of them were assistants to the beings actually in charge of the lab. They are both shorter than me, but they have the same red skin as Hyrrokin and lack of follicles on their heads. Hurlians look more like humans though—they do not flash-flame and have no claws or tail. Neither of these beings are armored and they have both removed their weapons. I allow them to step inside.

They look at me with delight, as if they are truly happy to see me again. Heh. I would have been happy to go to my grave never having seen either of their narcissistic features again.

“Ten-oh-five,” the male enthusiastically greets, using their lab designation.

“My name is Isak Firestone.”

“Oh…oh.” They both blink, looking confused.

I quietly guide them up to my brother’s office so we can speak. I gesture for the three of us to take chairs in front of a blazing fireplace. I sit down, making sure we all face each other. “Why are you here?” I question.

“I am authorized by the President of Hurlia to offer you a formal apology,” the male says.

“An apology?”
