If she’d merely been a mix of human and Ancient bloodlines, none of this would have been an issue. She would have carried only half our blood, which would’ve left her unable to use her powers. But a girl who carried both Ancient and Earth magik, and who had been blessed by both? That was another matter entirely.

Her body’s will to survive had pulled her through impossible situations. She’d been tried by fire and had come out stronger every single time. The world had underestimated her and viewed her kindness as weakness.

I had a feeling she was about to set the record straight.

Or destroy the earth and all who lived on it.

Looking into her glowing eyes with their inhuman slits, I decided it really could go either way.

“Soyale?” Lokene whispered.

I could read the fear in his eyes. He was afraid of me.

Not of you. I’m afraid for you.His deep voice tried to calm my mind.

I wasn’t sure I believed him, but the sudden arrival of all my mates but Zeno distracted me.

“What are you doing here?” I growled. “You guys are supposed to be safe in Atlantis, not in the middle of the fight.”

I pinned Bion with a look that said he would answer for this later, but he only shrugged.

The screech of chairs scraping against marble jerked my attention from him. The leaders were trying to sneak their way to the door.Storm and Eason stepped in front of them, arms crossed over their chests.

Eason raised a brow in my direction. “Where do you want them, soldier?”

My heart began to race. Lexi wasn’t dead, and I knew she would be back any moment. I wanted my men far, far away from here. Maybe I should have stashed them in Iolatara.

Soyale. You claimed powerful mates. You need to trust their skills. They are going to be miserable if you try to store them away in the castle forever. Let them do what they excel at doing.

Lokene was right. As much as it terrified me, this is what they were trained to do.

Lexi had killed the agents assigned to protect the politicians, and these humans needed to be protected and held here until I returned. I trusted my men to handle it.

“Keep them here. I want them to witness what is about to happen. Afterward, I wish to discuss an offer with them.”

“We’ve already told you our conditions—” one of the presidents started to rant

I cut him off with a crackle of my power. “Things have changed, human. I will be back to discuss my list of demands once I finish with my previous engagement,” I snarled.

“And by previous engagement, she means she’ll be back once she’s stomped Lexi’s butt into the ground.” Kye cackled.

Bion gave a flick of his wrist and television screens seemed to be projected around the table. He gave me a wink. “I’ll make sure they see all the good parts. Go get her, doll.”

“Kye? Please find Erin for me.”Kye immediately started punching numbers into his phone.

Fynn grabbed my hand. “Zeno is in the bay. He is waiting there as backup in case you need him.”

I nodded my thanks. The pounding of the call in my head grew louder. Lexi was coming.

Lokene’s eyes had lines of worry etched around them, and he couldn’t quite hide his fear.Come back to me, Soyale.

I shared the same fear. If I lost control, could I come back? As Lexi appeared in front of me, I knew it was a risk I would have to take. Evil seeped from her, leaving an inky black pool that only I could see beneath her feet.

I didn’t wait for her to attack.

Blurring across the room, I tackled her through the already shattered window. Tumbling toward the pavement, I tried to sink my fangs into her shoulder, but she’d prepared for my attack. A black tentacle snaked out, curling around my neck and holding me away from her.

I blinked, appearing just beneath her, and tried to bite her calf muscle. Again, the Lure slapped me away. With a growl of frustration, I blinked to the ground, waiting for her to appear beside me.
