“Correct.”

“You can put me down now. I feel silly. I want my car keys and belongings, please.”

“Where do you live?”

“Temecula. You already know this.”

“The full address. Temecula is a big enough place to get lost in.”

“Why? You don’t have time to be driving me anywhere. I heard you have a busy night ahead at a charity event.”

“You let me worry about time management. Now that address, please, with a cherry on top.” Tucker draws his arms in closer to his chest, causing his beard to tickle the side of my face. “If it makes you feel better, we know the three songs we are playing tonight like the back of our hands. Our instruments should already be at the venue by now, and we aren’t the only entertainment tonight. Comedians, celebrities, actors, and other musicians are doing their part, donating their time and talent to help raise awareness and funds for my passionate friend’s foundation. Shamus and I will mingle among the influential and deep pockets before and after we play. So, in telling you all that, you can set aside any worry for my time management skills.”

Crap. There goes my reasoning. Both guys must be good musicians if they are playing there, which I admit is kind of cool.

I don’t want to appear interested in Tucker, but I want to donate to the foundation they are supporting as a thank you for the help I received today, so I will look it up and put my money where my mouth is. Maybe I will Google the event tomorrow because there will be pictures online and a story to read.

Or I won’t, but now that I have Keanu’s business card, I can send a check to him, and he can donate for me.

The less I know about Tucker, the better. He’s a temptation I need to walk away from today. He’s a distraction bullet I need to dodge. I have come this far by sticking to the rules, aiming to see the 365 days through. I am not looking for a boyfriend or a friend with benefits or a male companion who wants more. I am not looking for any temptations to cross my path. My game plan is working for me. It makes sense, helping me survive losing my parents and carving my future out.

“Hamlet, although I can stand around holding you all day, you have disappeared inside your head again, which doesn’t bode well for you and your case. I’m still waiting for your answer.”

“Sorry, yeah, um… if I answer you, will you put me down and give me my belongings?”

Tucker lets out a heavy sigh. “Possibly. You heard what the doc told you. No driving.”

“Then, no. That’s all you’re getting from me until you at least put me down and give me my keys.”

“Are you single?”

“None of your business!”

“Panties or thongs?”

“What?!”

“See, you’re confused. You’re unable to answer the simplest of questions. No keys for you.”

“Ooh… y-you f-frustrate me.” I stumble my words.

Tucker looks at his friend. “Shamus.”

“I hear ye.”

He hears what?I heard nothing.

Shamus leaves to do whatever he heard Tucker telepathically tell him because he sure didn’t say the words out loud.

I hold the flat of my palm out. “My keys, please.”

“Your address, please? Also, can’t you see I have my hands full?”

I wriggle as a hint to put me on my feet.

He holds me tighter.

“I need to get dressed.”
