“NICE TO MEET YOU, MR. Dufort,” she said, completely void of any sincerity, and then reached out her hand. “Please, call me Harper.”
Daniel glanced at her hand, then held her brilliant blue stare. Once of her eyes twitched as he knew it would, then he smiled and shook her hand.
All his smugness vanished as their skin touched. Heat poured through their connection as both their eyes widened.
Fuck.
She pulled her hand away, and they stood staring at each other in surprise.
Akino cleared his throat.
Say something. Say something.
“Ah, Ms. Kane, I hope you’re enjoying your stay at my hotel. You’re Australian?” he asked.
Then she rolled her fucking eyes at him.
Cough, cough, cough. Akino began coughing beside him.
Daniel glared at him.
“No. I’m from New Zealand,” Harper replied. “Different accent. Different country. Different island.”
He knew where fucking New Zealand was. He didn’t need her to give him a geography lesson. God, this woman was a snarky bitch.
Daniel had already decided he was going to fuck her, but now he had second thoughts. He’d just take her from behind, after she’d thoroughly sucked him off. Actually, no, he wanted to see those blazing blue eyes as she screamed his name.
He gave her his best scolding look, which seemed to have no effect. She glanced away with absolute disinterest.
“Ms. Kane is the author I mentioned earlier. The one who will be working with the network this week.”
Oh, fucking great.
“Well,” Daniel said, gritting his teeth. “I’m sure that will be a joyous occasion.”
“Yes,” she replied, dropping her glasses back over her eyes. “Mr. Dufort. I will see you in a few days. Akino, lovely to see you again. I am off to relax on the beach. Aloha.”
And then she was gone.
Daniel watched her walk out of the large hotel entrance until she was out of sight. Slowly, his eyes moved back to Akino.
“I suspect she’s jetlagged, sir,” he said, smirking. “She seemed much friendlier last night.”
He didn’t need her friendly.
Just horizontal.
Or on her knees.
Harper Kane was just the sexy distraction he was looking for.
