CHAPTER SEVENTEEN

Harper opened her eyes and took in the powerful tanned back beside her. They’d been lying on the Altitude sun loungers all afternoon, drinking cocktails, and nibbling on taster plates for dinner.

After, that was, Daniel had relieved the hot and torturous ache between her legs.

Harper’s bags had barely hit the carpet when Daniel had swept her off her feet and carried her into the bedroom. She’d watched him remove his clothes and hurried to do the same. Daniel had pulled her naked body against his and kissed her like a starving man.

There had been no foreplay. He’d fallen over her and yanked her legs around him. His fingers had circled her juices around her pussy, and then he was inside her.

They’d groaned and cried out, then suddenly frozen while he was deep inside her.

“Shit.”

“Shit.”

No condom.

“I’m on the pill,” she said.

“I’m clean,” he added, and shook his head. “Fuck, I’m sorry, Harper. I just damn well wanted you so much.”

“Fine, just move, would you?” she’d replied, pulling on his arms.

“Christ.” He’d groaned, and soon they were both gasping with the relief they needed.

Now the sun was setting, and the sky was a blend of pinks and blues. Harper basked in the romantic mood that surrounded them, as couples lazily embraced and kissed.

Being a romance author, she took mental notes of all the little details, knowing she’d write about them one day.

Daniel reached over and lifted her hand, kissing her knuckles. She’d blinked at him, surprised by the affectionate gesture.

“Aren’t you worried someone will see us?” she asked, looking around at all the staff and guests. He was a well-known billionaire, after all.

“No,” he replied, but he blinked, and she got the feeling he was hiding something.

THE NEXT MORNING, SHE woke in Daniel’s bed. There’d been no discussion about whether they would spend the night together. He’d simply held her tight until they’d fallen asleep.

Harper had smiled at how good he was getting at cuddling.

Today they were meeting with BookFlix at 10:00 a.m. and she needed to get ready. She kissed his back, and he stirred.

“I’m going to shower,” she said, slipping out of bed. “I’ll see you at the meeting.”

“Stop. I need to taste you before you leave,” he growled and immediately she felt herself get wet.

“There’s no time,” she said, scrambling away.

“Harper,” he warned, but she blew him a kiss and backed out of the bedroom.

“See you downstairs at ten.”

The last thing she saw was Daniel wiping his hand over his hair, looking frustrated.

As she ran along the hallway to her penthouse suite, Harper wondered if all holiday romances were this intense.
