“Can we—”

A stronger woman probably would have said no. But she didn’t. Harper nodded without hesitation before he’d finished the sentence.

Daniel released her and glanced over at her three amigos. “Do you want to say goodbye?”

Harper watched as Graydon, Cooper and Luke stared at the floor, walls, and sky, pretending to be interested in whatever they saw, when it was obvious they’d been watching her.

“Give me a minute,” she said. “I need to get my purse.”

Daniel nodded and plunged his hands into his shorts.

Harper walked over to her friends, looking at them like, I know I’m fucking up here, I’m fully aware of it but can we all just pretend I’m making a sensible adult decision and we can deal with it tomorrow?

“So...” she started.

“Go,” Graydon said, making it easy for her.

“We’ll be here with the Tylenol tomorrow,” Luke said, referencing the first day they’d meet. She gave him a grateful smile and picked up her purse, then turned to Cooper.

“I’m not going to lie, that’s some tough competition,” he said, after shooting a glance in Daniel's direction. “You didn’t mention it was Daniel Dufort.”

Harper shook her head, not knowing what to say. She didn’t want to feel like she was deciding between them.

“I just have to do this. To say goodbye,” she said, then poked him in the abs with her purse. “Come on, I live in New Zealand, Coop. There are a dozen American girls here dying to dance with you. Go sweep one of them off their feet with those sexy eyes of yours.”

He leaned down and winked at her. “No. See you tomorrow. I’m taking you to the beach for ice cream. I have a feeling you are going to need it.”

Damn him.

She gave him a kiss on the cheek and walked back to Daniel, who was glaring at Cooper.

“Two seconds longer, Harper, and I wouldn’t have been responsible for my actions,” Daniel growled and wrapped his arm around her.

Harper sighed as they stepped into the lift. How had life gotten so complicated? Two amazing men, and she couldn’t keep either of them.

Not really.
