The server arrived with their wine and began to pour. Fletcher released her hand.

The moment passed.

Plate after plate of the most exquisite Japanese cuisine was brought out to them in small tasting plates, allowing them to try just about everything on the menu.

It was intimate and fun as they chatted and moaned over the incredible flavors in each dish. Fletcher leaned over with his chopsticks loaded, feeding her.

When she sat back and groaned, her belly full, their plates were cleared.

“I really wish we could walk this food off,” she said.

“I could put on some of that eighties music you love when we get home and watch you dance,” Fletcher teased.

Olivia imagined what their life would be like if she lived with him. It wouldn’t be just her; it would be Sammy, too. A reality check. A man like Fletcher didn’t want some other guy’s kid, or any kid, living in his immaculate penthouse.

“What just happened?” he asked.

She looked up. “Nothing. I just remembered a few things I have to do when I gethometo my place tomorrow.”

He let out a small sigh and folded his napkin, placing it on the table. Then stood and held out his hand. She took it and placed a hand on his solid chest.

“Thank you. Thank you for a wonderful day and a wonderful dinner.”

He lowered his mouth to hers. “You are welcome.”

Their time together was nearly over. She was glad he had let her comment go. Neither of them could change anything, so it was best they just enjoy the rest of their night. Tomorrow she would return to her life and tuck away these precious memories of one of the most magical, romantic days of her life.
