After a scorching kiss, he says, “Look at yourself.”
Turning back to the mirror, I take a good look. My hair is tousled and my skin glows brighter than before. My eyes are heavy-lidded, my lips pink and plumper from his rough kiss. I look sultry. Beautiful.
“Do you see what I see?”
Smiling, I nod. “Yes.”
“Good.” He’s still staring at us and his smirk fades. He mutters a curse.
Immediately worried, I follow his gaze downward. Our combined fluids trickle down my thigh.
I can see the apology gathering in his eyes. “Grace, I’m—”
“Don’t be.” Still staring at the evidence of our passion, I think it’s about time I invest in birth control. “We’re fine.”
“Are you sure?”
I do a quick mental calculation and nod. He lets out a breath, yet I catch his satisfied look when he glances at his mark on me again.
Chapter 8

“Isee you got my note,” I greet after answering my cell on the first ring.
Grace’s soft chuckle is husky with sleep, and the sound is incredibly alluring. I wish I was still in bed with her. Instead, I’m on my way to take care of business. I’m still disappointed about leaving the sexy-as-sin woman in my warm bed to confront Devlin. I’m going to give her an extra-tongue lashing on top of the firing just for that inconvenience.
“Hey,” Grace’s voice booms from the speakers in my car, surrounding me like a comforting blanket. It’s incredible that even her voice over the phone tugs at my emotional strings. “About the note on your pillow telling me to call you before I move a muscle.” Laughter rings in her tone. “Why was it in all caps? You didn’t have to yell at me.”
Her little giggle makes me smile as I turn off at the next exit. “That was to make sure you don’t run away before I get back.”
She groans. “I left the first time for a good reason. At least, I thought I had a good reason at the time.”
“Uh-huh. But seriously, if anyone shows up at my place, anyone at all, stay your ass in my house until I get back.” Her huffed annoyance is amusing. “If you absolutelyhaveto leave, please answer your phone when I call. We’re done with the whole ghosting thing, yes?”
“Very funny.”
