When my brain starts to function again, my first thought is…

What’s that annoying tapping?

Then Cole’s voice comes to my ears like someone slowly turning up the volume on a car radio.

“Summer! Come on, open your eyes. Please.” There’s a desperation to his words that helps draw me up from the dark fog. I blink and wonder why Cole is crouching over me.

Why am I not pressed up against the wall anymore? I liked it there.

“Fucking hell. You scared the shit out of me.” Cole’s hot hands cup my face, and I my brain tilts again. “Oh no. No you don’t.”

He moves, and suddenly the overwhelming warmth is cut with a surprisingly refreshing chill.

“What…?” I move my head around and realize I’m lying at the bottom of the tub.

“You passed out. Here.” Cole clasps me under the armpits, supporting all my weight as he helps me stand.

On wobbly legs, I step out of the now-cold shower. Cole keeps me upright by sliding an arm around my waist and bracing me against his side. A moment later, a fluffy towel presses against my damp skin. Cole wraps me in the thing, securing it under my arms, before he settles me onto the toilet.

“Head between your legs. Deep breaths.” His palm on my back guides me down, and I finally can breathe normally. My head clears as blood winds its way back to my brain.

I also realize that Cole’s erection is bobbing not too far from my face as he crouches beside me.

“You’re still hard,” I point out.

Cole huffs out a laugh that doesn’t sound amused. “My dick is selfish. Ignore it.”

“I don’t want to hurt his feelings,” I murmur.

Fingers briefly press into my back, then begin to rub soothing circles.

“You’re still loopy.”

“Sounds like normal.” I grin into my lap, this whole situation suddenly hilarious. A snicker sneaks out, then a chuckle.

A second later I’m full on snorting, with laughter spilling out of me in waves.

“Definitely still out of it,” Cole mutters, pushing the wet strands of hair away from my face.

“I-I can’t believe I-I p-passed out!” My snorts turn to hiccups, which is all the more comical to me.

Cole looks worried though, scooping me off my seat and carrying me out of the bathroom. It’s even cooler away from the humid space, and goosebumps prickle over my arms. We settle on the bed, Cole with his back against the wall, and me in his lap, still dissolving into a giggling mess.

When the hilarity has calmed down into random spurts, Cole presses his lips against the side of my head.

“How do you feel?”

I take mental stock of myself. My one elbow smarts. I wonder if I hit it on my way down. Other than that, just a little weak.

“I’m good. What happened, exactly?”

Cole’s arms tighten around me, pulling me flush against his chest.

“We were kissing.”

“Yep, I remember that bit.”
