Finally, his phone rang a few minutes after three. “I’m home.” Her weak voice sounded tired.

“I’ll pick you up.”

“No.”

He waited for her next words and heard a sigh.

“If you’re too tired and want to sleep—”

“Can you come here…and stay?”

“Sure.” As if he’d ever refuse to spend the night with her in his arms.

“Overnight?” she asked.

He beamed, amused by her insistence. “Whatever you want. I have the day off tomorrow; I reserved it just for you.”

“Come on over, Matt. We’ll decide here.”

“Right away. I’ll bring you dinner.”

“Just leftovers from the barbeque will be fine.”

“All right. See you soon.”

He shoved a few necessities into his backpack and collected a box of leftovers. In the kitchen, he found Royce working on his laptop. His brother arched his eyebrows. “Backpack and cooler? Yesterday’s picnic didn’t exhaust you enough?”

“Tonight’s will be quieter and more relaxing.”

Royce chuckled. “Have fun. No curfew. The place is yours tomorrow. I’ll be at the computer lab all day. Notice I’m not asking any questions.”

“Thanks. I appreciate it.”

Eager to have Brenda in his arms, he left, drove too fast, and almost sped through a red light.

As he turned into her driveway, the garage door opened, revealing the empty space next to her car. He drove in and turned off the ignition. The garage door lowered. He jumped out, gathered his things from the trunk, and walked into the kitchen.

Standing next to the isle, she waited for him. He swallowed, instantly hard, dropping his bags on the counter.

Wearing a satin gown, with spaghetti straps, the hem skimming mid-thighs, her hair cascading down her back, she was a vision, the exciting, passionate vision he’d been dreaming of for the last two weeks.

He went to her, wrapped his arms around her, and hugged her tightly. “I’ve missed you so much, babe.”

“I’ve missed you, too. But I’ve run out of moral energy.”

He caressed her back, frowned and smiled. “No bra?” His palms stroked her lower back all the way to the edge of the nightie and moved beneath it, retracing its path. “Wow, nothing under this satin thing. I love it.”

“I thought we might be too eager to waste time.”

“Absolutely.”

He crushed her mouth, his fingers running up and down the smooth material, caressing every valley and mound.

She walked backward dragging him to her room. She fell onto the bed, pulling him down with her.

He eased away. “Give me a sec.” He yanked off his clothes, protected his erection, and stretched at her side, gathering her against him.

“I’ll take off—”
