Chapter Twelve

The landing jolted Matt from his deep slumber and soft cushion—hmm, Brenda’s breast. He couldn’t do better. He smiled and raised his head, his lips brushing hers.

She laughed. “Time to wake up. We’re in Miami.”

In front of them, passengers stood, collected their luggage, and proceeded along the aisle. Brenda strapped her bag onto her shoulder and turned toward him.

“I’ll bring the carry-ons.” He yanked them out of the luggage compartment and indicated she should go ahead of him.

She followed the throng of passengers and exited the plane via the jet bridge. Each carrying a bag, they sprinted through the arrival area to the taxis.

“I didn’t reserve a car,” he explained after hailing a cab.

“Why would you? The resort has so much to offer. I don’t think we’ll need to leave it.”

“If there’s something you want to visit, we can take a cab.”

“Right, this vacation is all about relaxing, you as much as me.”

When they arrived, they toured the premises, indoors and out, took a dip in the ocean, swam several laps in the pool, before settling down to an easy-going dinner at the beach café.

Exhausted after last night’s shift and traveling, he gathered her into his arms and drifted off to sleep.

In the morning, he woke up ready to start the day the right way—the only way to trigger a joyful mood for the rest of their vacation. Overnight his mind had rested, his body had warmed, and certain muscles had hardened because of the soft body snuggled against him. He captured her mouth and slid down her short silky nighty and his trunks, allowing her to wake up with a smile and a moan.

“Oh Matt, you…”

He was already inside her, pumping and exciting her. They lost track of their thoughts and shuddered together. Rolling her on top of him, he kissed her again.

“Should we start with a swim, a walk, or breakfast? Your choice.”

“How about the gym first, then a swim, and then breakfast? We’ll leave the walk for later.”

“Good idea.” He kissed the tip of her nose.

“Any special activity you want to do?”

He grinned. “I’ve already chosen the first activity of the day. After lunch, I’d like to have a nap.”

She chuckled. “Okay. After breakfast, we’ll go to the ocean, walk, and swim, and then have lunch on the beach. In the evening, we can try one of the resort’s many restaurants for dinner.”

“Good plan.”

They followed it every day and never felt the need to leave the resort.

On the last night of their vacation, Brenda donned a white cotton lace dress that suited her newly tanned complexion.

Matt took the trouble to slip on long beige pants and a sky blue shirt.

“I made a dinner reservation at the Crab House. The seafood is out of this world. It’s the right way to end our vacation.”

She nodded. “I’d call it a week in paradise.”

“I couldn’t agree more. Close your eyes.”

“Why?” She arched her eyebrows.

“No questions. Just close them.”
