She extracted an official form and read, “Marriage license,” and looked at him puzzled.
“What do you think about getting married the weekend before Christmas? I don’t want to wait any longer. Just a quick visit to City Hall. Royce is away for a few days. While Tyron stays with Mia, we can enjoy a weekend honeymoon at my condo.”
“I’m all for it.” She threw her arms around his neck. “But I thought you wanted a church wedding with your family around.”
“Later, in the spring or summer. We can fly to St. John with our guests and renew our vows at the small chapel near the ocean. Then, we can have a reception at the hotel my father owns.”
She loved seeing him preoccupied with wedding plans and secretly plotting. Chuckling she asked, “What made you decide to do this now? Is it Tyron’s presence?”
His sheepish grin was answer enough. “Well, he’s staying in my fiancée’s house, and I’m exiled to my condo. Not fair.”
She burst out laughing and agreed.
Matt and Brenda tied the knot at City Hall on Friday afternoon, and honeymooned in his condo, while Tyron and Mia thought they were on call at their respective clinics. On Sunday they returned from their mini-trip to paradise and announced their big news.
“So is Matt spending the night here?” Tyron teased.
“You bet I am.”
