“That’s great.”
Wondering about the little girl’s Christmas wish, he smiled, slipped on his parka, and turned to Sienna.
“Drive safely.” She tossed him an anxious look and sighed.
His heart sank. Throwing his doubts and confusion to hell, he drew her into his arms and pressed her against him.
“Take care of yourself. I’ll call you tonight.” He kept her in his arms, caressing her hair.
She laced her fingers behind his neck and buried her head in the crook of his throat. He felt moisture and kisses against his flesh. He pulled back and cupped her face, peering into her beautiful eyes shimmering with tears.
“Sienna, everything will be alright. Promise me you won’t let anything depress you tonight. Put on a funny movie. I’ll call you,” he repeated and pressed his cheek against hers.
If he kissed her now, he wouldn’t be able to leave her. He eased away, lowered his hood, and headed out, welcoming the light snowflakes cooling his face and his blood.
