She peered at his eyes trying to discover the truth. “Do you know something I don’t?”

Royce wouldn’t lie to her but he couldn’t betray a man who’d trusted him with his secrets.

“All I know is that we agreed not to bring anyone else into my bedroom. No more talk about your past or mine.”

“All right.” Her lips twitched.

She needed more convincing. He promised himself to make her forget their lousy past, and yearn for his lovemaking. “In this house we’re starting our present and future.” He slid her on his lap and wrapped his arms around her, scorching her mouth with a blazing kiss, gliding moist kisses on her face and throat, his hand covering her breast, kneading it, and exciting her.

Her moans reassured him that she was focusing her full attention on his caresses. When she clasped her fingers behind his neck, he slid both hands under her shirt working his magic on her breasts.

“Too hot,” he whispered against her ear.

“Yes,” she answered in a sigh.

He freed her of her shirt and tossed it on the carpet, then he bent his head latching onto a nipple and teasing the other. Her moans and sighs mingled with laughing sounds and his name. He carried her and set her on the bed. Getting rid of her panties, he covered every inch of her body with firing kisses. She wriggled, stretched, and curled against him.

“Ah, Royce,” she repeated. “I love you.”

“Are you ready for me?”

“Yes, yes.”

He was more than ready for her. Yanking off his shorts, he protected himself, gathered her into his arms, and slid inside her, withdrawing and pumping, increasing her pleasure, and his, until she shuddered and screamed his name. He collapsed over her.

“I love you, Susan.”

Later, she whispered, “Will it always be like that?”

“Yes, my love. We belong to each other.” He rolled to her side, kept her snuggled against him, and threw the cover over their naked bodies. “Sleep now.”

The next morning, Susan felt like a satiated cat, ready to purr with happiness. Royce awakened her with more kisses and lovemaking, exploring her body with slow and fiery kisses. She’d erased her doubts and stopped asking herself questions. A man who could make her fall in love with love itself, the way he had, deserved to be trusted.

“Shall I bring you breakfast in bed?”

She chuckled. “No, I’m coming downstairs.” She couldn’t spend her day in bed.

He’d put on his night shorts and helped her slip on her pajamas shirt.

“Huh, wait I need to wear my—”

“No need. I’m not wearing anything under my shorts. We’ll be back soon to shower and dress.” Tugging her hand, he pulled her toward the stairs.

What the heck. There was no one else in the house. They ran down the stairs all the way to the kitchen. He brewed a pot of coffee, and she made an omelet with bacon, pleased with her idea of bringing a cooler of food. Soon a delicious smell melded with the aroma of strong coffee and stirred their appetite. Chatting and laughing, they enjoyed breakfast and cleared the table.

“I bet you’ve never cooked without, you know…” He winked at her.

She blushed to her ears. “Of course not.”

“Then we have to celebrate.”

“What?” She opened big eyes and gasped when he grabbed her sides and lifted her onto the isle counter. “Are you crazy?”

“Crazy about you, yes. I want to make love to you on every surface you like.”
