I squeezed my eyes shut and leaned into Danec. At least my life would end beside someone I cared about.
"When this is over, I want to watch movies and eat popcorn," Danec said.
"You like popcorn?" I asked.
"I've never had it, but I've heard about it," he admitted.
"Okay, we can make that happen," I said.
A moment later, the engine stopped dead and silence fell over the pod. Silence deeper than the universe itself.
Then the tapping increased and the window went black, covered entirely with tiny nanobots.
"Shit," I muttered.
