We panted in unison while we came down from the rush we gave each other. After a hundred lifetimes, he pulled his cock out of me. Although I ached, my pussy immediately missed him.

There will be other times, I told myself.

"We should consider the sleeping arrangements on this journey," J'avet said in my ear. He put his hand lightly around the front of my neck and pulled me off the console.

"Yeah," I said, still trying to catch my breath. "I want to do that again. Unless you snore."

I felt his chest rumble in response.

"You're insufferable," he said, but this time there was a touch of affection in his tone.

"You too," I retorted. "What did I say about resting?"

His chest shook now and I caught the sound of him chuckling softly.

"You said I should rest, then you led me astray. This is definitely your fault."

"Fuck off," I said, before I realised he was teasing. I twisted around until I was face to face with him, my ass hard against the console. "We should get washed up."

He dipped his head to kiss me lightly on the mouth.

"Yes, we should. E'rel and Brinley will be here soon."

My eyes widened. I had totally forgotten about them. They could easily have walked in on us. They still might.

"I call first dibs on checking out the pod's shower." I slid out from between him and the console, and bent to gather up my clothes.

He pinched my ass and made me jump.

"Hey!" I stood up straight just as his pubic plate slid back into place. "Not fair, I can't knee you in the groin now. Not without hurting my kneecap."

He looked unapologetic. "Why do you think I have that?" He nodded downward.

"Dirty cheat," I muttered, but I grinned. "Shame there's only room in the shower for one person at a time." I could barely lift my arms, much less share.

He shrugged and started to pull his clothes on. "Don't use up all the water."

"It gets recycled, smartass," I told him. Unless someone stole the water, as the Iri presumably had with the Chimera, then we'd never run out. It might taste a little stale after a while, but it would keep us alive and clean.

He arched an eyebrow at me and turned away. Just like the usual, grumpy old J'avet. Frustrating bastard.

I watched him slip back into the chair behind the console before I heard a voice outside. I bit back a squeak of alarm and hurried into the tiny bathroom before Brinley or E'rel stepped aboard.

They might wonder at my timing—having a shower in the middle of the day. Let them wonder. They'd figure out what was going on soon enough. I just hoped I could figure it out first. Was this just attraction and lust, or the start of something more? Hells, we had to go into the heart of the enemy, get the others out and escape with our lives, before we could even think about romance.

I dumped my clothes on a small shelf and stepped into water slightly too hot for comfort. I would need every muscle relaxant I could get after that session.
