“The end of lunch bell just rang,” Garrett explains, and I frown.

“What? Isn’t it still period four?”

“Nope. You slept right through period four and lunch, Kitten.” Shaun explains, his lips only offering me the slightest of smiles.

“Oh.”

“You were pretty baked. I can’t believe the teachers didn’t notice.” Simon adds, and my hazy memory kicks in.

“Marcus messaged us as well. Said he was worried.” Garrett adds, his icy-blue eyes roaming over my face. He’s worried, too. I can see it. Does he know about last night?

My eyes dart to Shaun, but his neutral expression doesn’t tell me shit.

“Is Marcus talking to you guys again?” Hope fills me as I wait for someone to answer.

“Not exactly. I guess his concern for you outweighs his need to distance himself.” Garrett offers, and I frown.

We really betrayed Marcus. He didn’t deserve that. He didn’t deserve me coming into his life and ruining it.

“Where’s Allister and Bell?” I look over Garrett and Shaun’s shoulders, but I can’t see any sign of them.

“They left at the start of lunch. Bell is fucking scary. I totally believed her when she said she’ll peel the skin from our dicks if we don’t look after you, Kitten.” Shaun grimaces, and a slight grin tugs at my lips. I wonder if I should tell him he should be scared.

“We should get to class,” Simon mumbles next to my ear and the guys nod, standing from the fraying grey carpet in the library.

Shaun offers me a hand, and when I take it, he hauls me up from the beanbag before I hear Simon grunting as he tries to lift himself up.

My last class is Health, and for the first time ever, I don’t want to see Tyler. It’s not that I don’t care about him. It's more that I’m likely to start crying again now that the joint I smoked earlier has mostly worn off.

“Actually, I think I’m going to head home.” I brush my hands over my skirt, trying to straighten it out as the guys' eyes land back on me.

“You are?” Shaun asks, his neutral face now twisting with concern.

“Yeah. I’m gonna nap before I need to get ready for the Halloween party tonight.”

“We don’t have to go to that, you know. We can all hang out at Simon’s, or even my place. We have a man shed we can kick back in.” Shaun smiles hopefully at me, but I shake my head.

“There’s no way I’m missing a Halloween party!”

“But Kitten… Last night…” Shaun steps in front of me, stopping my path to escape, so I rise up on my tiptoes and peck his cheek. The one that isn’t marked red from whatever happened to him last night.

“Last night was last night. Tonight is Halloween, and we are going to party.”

I dart around Shaun, ignoring his protest as I speed walk to my locker.

“I really don’t think it’s a good idea, Kitten.” Shaun catches up with me, with Simon and Garrett on his heels.

“Why isn’t it a good idea?” Simon asks, having no idea what happened last night.

Reaching my locker, I hastily load up my bag with my books, not considering what I need to take home.

“What’s going on?” Garrett demands with a hiss, and I shut my locker, turning back to the guys.

“Nothing is going on. I’m just having an off day. But a nap and a bath will get me back on track. I will see you guys later tonight.” I kiss the air and push through them, ignoring Shaun’s curse.

The bus is pulling up across the road from the school when I walk out the gates, so I run across quickly, climbing on and taking a seat. Pulling my phone out from my blazer, I open it to message my mum to let her know I’ve gone home, but instead, it starts ringing with the nameFuck You Julieflashing across the screen.

I hold my breath, wondering if I should answer it or not. It’s not going to be a nice call, but I should probably speak with her and ask her to back off.
