“Nah, man. We don’t know that.” I say, even though I fucking know it’s her.

Garrett turns his fierce blue eyes to me, his top lip lifting in a snarl. “I fucking know it’s her, Bossi.”

I shake my head, not caring about anything but getting to Rhys.

“I’m going to find her. Get the others or don’t. I don’t fucking care.” I storm away before I even finish talking, pushing through the crowd as they all look at their phones, replaying the video. The video containing illegal acts against a child. Don’t those idiots know they can get charged just by having that sort of video on their phones? Dickheads.

I race out to the front yard, where passers-by are still pulling up to take photos with the ridiculous Halloween display on the front lawn, and I look around frantically, trying to find Rhys.

Where are you, Kitten?

I tug my phone back out and call her number, holding it to my ear while I shuffle anxiously. A moment later, I hear the Paramore song, Ignorance, start playing nearby, and I dart my head in that direction. That's Kitten’s ring tone!

I bolt towards the music, rounding a car parked on the nature strip, only to find that she’s not there. Her phone is, but there’s no sign of Rhys.

“Rhys!” I bellow into the night, hoping to get an answer, but it never comes. Picking up her phone, I key in her passcode that I memorised yesterday when we were in class, and I check her call log to see if she called anyone before bolting.

Nothing. She didn’t make a call.

Fuck!

“Any luck?” Garrett’s anxious voice sounds next to me, and I look around to see Simon and Marcus coming up behind him as I shake my head in response.

“What’s going on?” Simon asks, no sign of his usual playful tone.

“We need to find Rhys.” I hiss, and Simon frowns.

“Where’d she go?” Simon asks, and I hiss again.

“How the fuck do I know?”

“Wanna tell us what the urgency is?” Marcus steps closer, and I dart my head around to see too many ears in our vicinity.

“We need to go somewhere to have a quick chat.” Garrett declares, but I stomp my foot like a fucking two-year-old.

“We don’t have time for this. We need to find her. Now!” My face feels flushed with panicked anger, and I wish they would stop asking questions and just find her already.

“Hey man, I get that this isn’t a good situation, but maybe she just needs to cool down a bit. We will find her soon enough.” Garrett tries to reason with me, but I freak the fuck out, bellowing up into the night sky as I fist my hair.

Not able to stay there a moment longer, I storm off down the road, needing distance from the party, ignoring my mates when they call out to me. They don’t fucking understand what’s going on, and I can’t expect them to. They have no idea what happened last night to Kitten, and nowthis. It’s all too much.

Something on the ground up ahead under a streetlight gains my attention, and I dash forward, needing to see what it is. There on the road is a black wig. Rhys’ black wig.

Feet skid to a stop next to me, and Garrett curses as he bends down to pick up Kitten’s Cleopatra hair.

“Is that hers?” Marcus asks, and I nod, unlocking Kitten’s phone and searching her contacts for Skipper's number.

It rings twice before his deep voice comes over the line.

“Kitten?”

“Nope. It’s Fuckboy. We have a problem.” I glance up to see Garrett, Simon and Marcus standing before me, wearing frowns as they listen to me talk on the phone.

“What’s happened?” Tyler’s menacing tone sends a chill up my spine.

“I’m going to send you something. A video. Once you watch it, you’ll need to remove it from your phone, but you need to see it to know what’s happened.”

“Uh… ok.” Tyler mutters, and I pull the phone away from my ear and send the video from Rhys’ phone. Then I listen again, waiting quietly until I hear the video playing and then listen for his reaction.
