What were we trying to see here?

Then, I saw Luella lift her heel up. She stood on her toes as if she was about to dance, but she did not. Instead of doing that, her feet seemed to have gone in flames. Then, her feet left the floor. The vision followed her, and there she was.

I knew about it, but I had not seen her in her full glory.

“A firebird,” I breathed in amazement.

She was blazing, but she did not sear anything in the room. She smoothly flew through the window.

“Do you want to follow her? Or wait for her in her room?”

Before I could respond, I saw that she was back. Her bare feet were on the floor again. Was she merely training?

“It seems like Her Majesty is training,” Samara said as if she could hear my thoughts.

“It seems,” I mumbled.

I wondered what she was trying, and I was half-afraid to know. She was used to getting her way, and I was afraid she would be attempting something she was not supposed to.

The vision showed that she was already dressed. She was seated by her dresser, writing a note. I had not seen her write a note in the months we were together. Of course, we had other things to do, but somehow I had the impression that women liked their journals. She was not like that.

“Can we go closer and see what she is writing?” I asked.

“I am afraid we cannot, Your Majesty,” Samara apologized.

So, I watched with held breath while she wrote. Ink spilled on the edge of her stationery. Her mouth moved as if she had just cursed. I smiled and imagined what filthy words had escaped her mouth. I had not heard her curse, but it would not surprise me. She was fiery in every way.

There was a knock at her door.

“Come in,” her mouth seemed to say, but her eyes were still on the letter.

Who could it be? Could it be Francilia?

A man’s head peeked in, and my blood ran cold. Ari! What was he doing there?

My wife turned to him. Then, the vision was gone, and I was back in the Great Hall.

What was that all about? What was Ari doing in Mogochislenia?

“Let us go back to the vision!” I ordered Samara, who turned pale.

She scrambled to get back to the vision. When we were back, Luella was thankfully alone again in her room. She seemed distraught, her pen pressing hard on the paper she was writing on. I did not think I would see anything else, and the vision wavered anyway.

“Samara!” Leevar shouted as the Seer fainted in his arms.

I had worn out the Seer, but I could not help it. What was going on?

“The storm is over,” Clem said.

I rushed to see the remnants of the deluge outside the palace. It was flooding not too long ago, but now, everything seemed like a big clump of mud. Ugly, but it could have been worse. What was worse was the mud that gathered in my mind after seeing Ari in Queenspell.

What was he up to?
