He kissed his way down her body, then back up again. When she tried to take him in her hands, he took both her wrists in one hand and held them. Brushed a kiss over her mouth. “I want you helpless,” he whispered.

She tugged on his earlobe, then soothed it with her tongue. “I was helpless back in Afghanistan, and I still am. Helpless when you look at me. Helpless when you touch me. When you kiss me. I’m so in love with you that I have no willpower where you’re concerned.”

“Only fair,” he said, brushing his mouth across her neck. Savoring the sweetness of her skin. “Since you do the same thing to me.”

She wrapped her legs around his and tried to draw him closer. Her movements were jerky, as if she needed him inside her. Now.

Grinning, he held her hips still. “I have a better idea,” he murmured as he kissed his way down her chest. Her abdomen. Finally settled between her legs and put his mouth on her.

In moments, she was writhing against him. “Jase,” she rasped, fisting her fingers in his hair. “Oh, my God, Jase,” she said, her voice rising as her climax crashed through her.

He finally lifted his head and pulled her on top of him. “Just getting started, Laila,” he said, his voice dark with heat. With promise.

As he moved inside her, he felt another climax building as she tightened around him. She wrapped her arms around him and held on, biting his neck as she shuddered against him. He tensed, then groaned as he came as well.

They collapsed onto the blanket together, still holding each other. “I love you,” Jase,” she whispered in his ear.

“And I love you. You’re my life, Laila. My everything.”

She snuggled into him, tangling her legs with him. Holding him tightly against her body. Her strength wrapped around him, making him feel safe. Loved. Cherished.

“You’re my life, too, Jase,” she said, lifting her head and staring into his eyes. “I belong to you. You belong to me. Nothing will ever change that. Whatever we decide about this farm, our lives, we’ll decide together.”

He tightened his arms around her. He was pretty sure Laila had just proposed to him. She’d beaten him to it, but that was okay.

He waved his arm toward the barn and the pasture. “You said you see possibilities. Not me, Laila. I don’t see possibilities.” He waved his hand around the property. “You know what I see?”

She shook her head, holding her breath.

“I see our future.”
