“How good is Janet at handling security?” His question yanked her out of her trance and away from the way Spence’s jeans hugged his ass.

She cleared her throat as heat flooded her face. Met his gaze and swallowed at the intensity of his gray gaze. “She’s very good at it. We occasionally have disgruntled employees who demand to see me. A few have even tried to storm past Janet and open the door. She always stops them.” Her mouth curled into a smile. “One guy was particularly aggressive. Shoved her away when she tried to stop him. Janet just stuck out her foot and tripped him. He hit the floor face first. Broke his nose and bled all over the wood.

“After that, I kept the door locked at all times. Maintenance installed a buzzer for Janet to use to unlock the door. So even if someone got past her, they wouldn’t get in here.”

“Good to know,” Spence said, his gaze touching on everything in the office. “I’m going to set a few tells tonight before we leave. I’ll check them tomorrow to make sure no one’s been inside your office.”

Before Zoe could process the fact that Spence expected Ethan to try to break into her office, Janet rapped on the door. “Come on in,” she called.

Janet stepped inside and smiled at Zoe. Nodded at Spence. “Mail’s here,” she said, clutching it to her chest.

Zoe’s antennae quivered at the expression on Janet’s face. “What’s wrong?”

“There’s another package.” Janet kept her gaze on Zoe, sympathy in her eyes. “Looks just like the one yesterday.”
