SUNDAY NIGHT

Savich’s cell phone sang out David Bowie’s “Heroes.” He listened, then hit the off button. “That was Agent Lawless in Miami. Rich Doulos and two men took off on the family Learjet a few minutes ago. They’re headed to Camden, Maine.”

Mason punched off his own cell phone and said with satisfaction, “Now, isn’t that interesting? Shaker’s Bombardier was just towed out of the hangar at McCarran. Their flight plan is to Palm Beach.”

But why were Shaker and Eve headed to Palm Beach, and Rich Doulos to Maine? Were all three involved? What was happening? Nothing made sense. “My money’s on Maine,” Savich said at last. “Let me tell Ramsey.”

Ramsey walked into the living room with a young man pushing a room service cart. “He says these ribs are the best thing at the Bellagio.” Ramsey looked from Savich to his father-in-law, didn’t say anything more until he’d given the young man a generous tip and showed him out.

“What’s happened?” Ramsey was standing stiff, as if waiting for a blow to fall.

Savich said, “We might know where they are, Ramsey.”

Mason punched in a number on his cell phone. “Chuck? We’re leaving for Camden, Maine, in an hour.”
