I nodded, and his eyes brightened as he scratched his forehead. “I’m impressed. That’s a…that’s a long read. I’ve been working on it for months.”

“It’s one of the most brilliant things I’ve ever read.”

“You really mean that?”

“Oh, yeah. And seeing myself through your eyes was priceless. I can’t thank you enough for that.”

“I was just channeling how I feel about you,” he murmured. “And who knows, maybe it’ll be on TV one day.”

“It’ll be a travesty if it’s not.” I picked up the Slurpee, handing it to him, and then I gently moved the flowers and the pizza to the side.

“Want to sit down?”

“Yeah.” Wyatt took a big sip of the Slurpee, then offered the straw to me. I took a sip, too, swallowing the sugary sweet drink. “I’m starving. Want a slice of The Tilly?”

“That’s going to take some getting used to, but yes, please,” I said, sitting cross-legged on the bench as he handed me a square of pizza.

“It’s cooled down a little bit while we were talking.”

I shrugged. “So, we won’t burn our tongues. Works for me.”

Wyatt nodded. “Me, too.”

I bit into the sweet and savory slice, closing my eyes to revel in the taste of my favorite pizza. Instinctively and without skipping a beat, Wyatt handed me the Slurpee.

“Thanks,” I said before taking a nice, long, satisfying sip. “So, I’ve been thinking…maybe you should consider Emmett’s offer.”

He licked his lips, looking at me in disbelief. “Really?”

“I’ll be staying here all summer to work at the store. You could stay at my place, you know, when you’re not in Los Angeles.”

My heart started to race. There was nothing I wanted more than to have two blissful months with Wyatt. But I wasn’t sure if he felt the same.

He turned his body to face me, his arm resting on the back of the bench. “Work and live together, huh? Do you think you can handle that, Hamilton?”

Narrowing my eyes playfully, I slid closer to him on the bench. “Can you?”

“Without a doubt.”

“Good. And, you know, maybe I can fly out to L.A. for a weekend…or longer. If I pick up some extra shifts, I can probably afford the air fare.”

“Nope, I’ve given this a lot of thought. If you visit me, I’m flying you out. No arguments.”

“We can work out the details.”

“Exactly.”

He wrapped his arm around me, and I placed my head on his shoulder, sighing loudly, “Like pieces of a puzzle…we always fit.”

“Yes, we do.” He kissed the top of my head, then pressed his chin to my forehead. “Always.”
