Chapter Eleven

He didn’t think the beautiful vixen who turned his world on its ass was his queen. He fucking knew it down to his primal soul. If he tried to break free or ignore the urge of possession, he felt toward Rhia, he would slowly wither to a shell of a being.

Lucian, Roman, and Matteo felt the same way. They’d said as much to him on the ride over to Rhia’s place. They’d all nearly lost their shit when they couldn’t find her at the club. His back molars still ached with how hard he’d clamped down on them trying to get to her in time.

It made him a bastard but he thanked whatever god ruled over them in this world it was Maya who took a bullet and not Rhia. If their woman had suffered her friend’s fate Dimitris would already be kissing dirt.

It was their way of life. Take from him and he’d rid the world of your bloodline.

Through the darkness, he gazed at the small human in the passenger’s seat curled around his arm like he was her lifeline. Her hands shook where she held him tight.

Sevastyan tightened his grip around hers. If nothing more, he could let her know she wasn’t alone.

The downside of having her close was that her scent blanketed him, making him forget his objective.

Delicate lashes fanned across creamy cheeks he wanted to see flushed with arousal. The response of his body to hers these past few days had been shocking.

Damn distracting and he’d yet to claim her body fully for the same reason. He couldn’t think straight with her this near. His cock jerked and hardened at the thought of burying himself between those sweet thighs and taking her as his. Of marking her as his so no other mother fucker outside of them would dare touch her.

It was all he could think about. For the first time in his life he wanted to take a woman without protection and see her swell with his child. Their child. His brothers would equally be the child’s father as much as himself. Hell, he didn’t care who put the baby there, the more he thought about it. He just wanted to make sure she was tied to them now and forever.

Sevastyan growled, shaking his thoughts away.

What the fuck kind of animal did that make him? Before he didn’t care about having children, a home, white picket fences. She made him want them, though. Crave them with his soul. But dead men walking like him didn’t get to have that level of happiness. And yet when he looked at her, all he could see was her beautiful body round with a child in a home they provided for.

He tightened his grip on the wheel.

If he wasn’t careful, he could lose the one person in his life that could kill him if she walked away.

Images of her shapely legs spread open beneath him, her body wrapped around his as he drove his cock between her sweet folds made his dick turn steel-hard behind the zipper of his pants.

He slowed the car. “Milaya, we’re here.” He winced at the dark, husky timbre of his voice.

From her leveled heartbeats and uneven breathing, he could tell she was resting, but not asleep.

Refusing to relinquish the feel of her skin against his, they drove in silence as he led them to a safe house on the outskirts of the city. A two-story house situated up a steep heel with a sheer drop off on the backside with no neighbors in any direction and a ten-foot security fence as an added level of security. The only way anyone would bother them tonight was if they had fucking wings and could fly.

He pulled the car to a stop outside a four-inch steel-plated gate and waited for the heavy metal to swing open. Hinges groaned and Rhia sat up abruptly, dropping her hands from him, fully alert and taking in her new surroundings. “Where are we? Why is it so dark? I can’t see anything.”

“Shh… there’s nothing and no one is here but us.” He’d sent his brothers back to the club to monitor any activity that might happen with Dimitris. Tonight he wanted her to himself.

He hit a button on the dash and slowed as the gate swung closed behind them. Another few seconds and he pulled the car around the ample drive circling the front of the house and killed the engine.

Rhia leaned back, her eyes drifting up to his drowsily. Beyond the silence of the car, everything was dark and quiet. Nothing but the natural ambient light of the moon drifted in to break up the shadows.

Cocooned in silence and inky blackness, he hit the release button on her seatbelt and pulled her over into his lap.

Heaven.

Her hands were shaking against his chest as she looked at him with silent questions.

He cupped the back of her head, his fingers working into her hair. Sevastyan crushed her into his embrace, overcome with the need to feel her heartbeat against his. Feel her warmth and know she really was alive. “You’ve had me on edge for days. And I don’t think I’ll breathe right for days to come.” He traced the line of her jaw and tipped her mouth up to his. He wrapped a hand around her delicate neck, her pulse beating almost violently, and he could smell her heat, smell the soft scent of her need as it jetted through her bloodstream. He bet the strip of her panties grew wetter by the second from the tinge of scarlet coloring her cheeks.

Beneath the scent of blood, dirt, and a distinct crackle of nervous energy, he also found fear.

Of the unknown, no doubt? But of him? He hoped not. Probably of everything that happened to her tonight. Endless things could cause the underlying scent of it, but there was little he could do about it except when it came to him.

She huffed sharply. “Are you sure it’s not just occupational hazards? You do spend most of your time watching people have sex. That has to account for something.” She bit at her lip playing off his words.
