“Someone’s getting married.” Her mom sidled up next to them with a smile and wiggled her brows in Juniper’s direction.

“I guess I’ll have to update the Facebook poll tonight and see who bet on what.”

Juniper’s brows rose in question. “Do I want to know?”

Ivy grabbed Juniper’s bag from the back before locking the doors. “Not if you want to keep your sanity.”

“Why is this even a thing?”

“Your list,” the three women answered in unison as they climbed the stairs to the front porch. Cooled air trickled out of the cracked door.

Juniper froze. “Do what now?”

“Callie told us everything about your perfect man list last night over video chat.”

Jupiter’s mouth fell open. Not that her list was too big of a secret, but...

“Gan found it in your office yesterday and wouldn’t leave until I explained. Then she called your mom and somehow Ivy got in on the call and well, I did try to patch you in on a group chat but got no answer.” Callie shrugged.

“My phone was dead.”

Rollers bobbed and weaved as her gran dashed back inside.

Everyone followed and the second they crossed the threshold two things happened at once. Juniper’s stomach growled at the smell of garlic bread coming from the kitchen and the fact a party was about to go down in just a few hours.

“I see you managed rush delivery on the edible underwear.” She gave a chin nod toward the back counter lined with party favors ready to be placed in decorative bags.

“Yep!”

Juniper turned to her friend. “Ivy! This is…” Juniper swallowed looking for the right word.

She turned to her friend as she hung her purse and coat in the closet off the side of the front door.

“It looks like we’ve all stepped through a portal and landed in Hawaii!”

“I know right!” Colorful stringed lights hung from everything while paper lanterns, tiny umbrellas for cocktails and enough pineapple juice all awaited tomorrow’s festivities on any available counter space Ivy’s place offered.

“WOW!” Juniper’s eyes widened. The place had everything you could think of for a luau. Juniper huffed out a laugh at seeing the kid-like excitement fill Ivy’s eyes. “Summer is my favorite time. We even managed Lei necklaces and snagged a group of dancers to teach us how to hula dance.”

“You should see the backyard. It’s got everything from a bar armed with every liquor under the sun, to a fire pit and tiki torches and little pineapple twinkle lights.” Her face lit up the more she carried on about the decorations. It was so good to see Gan so happy.

“Where’s Dad?”

Her mom came and wrapped an arm around her shoulder. “He’ll be here soon. He had to work on a case at the last minute, sweetie.”

Aspen, Ivy’s husband, joined them in the kitchen and already had his arms wrapped around his high school sweetheart. Juniper smiled, truly happy for them. They were the perfect couple and seeing them together brought her thoughts back to Marshall and how she’d felt in his home seeing all his memories. In his arms. Her heart ached a little.

“Aspen, did you have a hand in this?”

His eyes glittered with mischief and a boyish grin curled his lips.

She could tell he loved the colorful decorations as much as Ivy.

“Nope, not this time. But I did give a few ideas on the bar out back.”

She nodded. “Something Marshall will appreciate no doubt.”

“Marshall. About him...” Her mom slid onto the stool next to her and nudged with an elbow. “Don’t you think it’s about time you told us everything about this Texan and cut the suspense already? I know there’s more.”
