Her lips curled into a slow smile. Cassandra enjoyed a game.
“Mention Sky High. That should liven things up,” she said dryly.
“What’s that?”
“A condo development in Miami that went under. Rumor has it that he’s still taking checks to pay off disgruntled investors despite the project crashing.”
I nodded slowly. “Like a Ponzi scheme?”
“Uh-huh. He’s got some new venture. But the checks are not going to that, it seems. He’s quite the shark.”
“Another one?” I shook my head. “This town’s awash with them.”
“Desperation and cunning make for a toxic mix.” She raised a brow.
I left with my head full of thoughts. I needed to put on my Sherlock Holmes’ hat and do some digging.
