“Not really. But I like different types of people from all walks of life.”

“You don’t get too much of that in Manhattan. They’re all rich,” he said. “Like us.”

“I’m not rich,” I said.

“You will be soon.” He drew me in close and kissed me. “I want you to have everything.”

I studied his face. Was this real? Was I really marrying the hottest guy in Manhattan?

“Why the frown?” he asked.

“I’m just trying to make sense of this. Of us marrying. Where will we live?”

He pointed to the house, which under the sunlight, resembled an enchanted house from a fairytale. “Here, if you like.”

“But don’t you have to run the agency?”

“I do.” He sighed.

“You don’t sound too happy about that.”

“I’ll be fine.” He smiled.

I could see he didn’t want to talk about work, and I didn’t blame him. I didn’t want to talk about it either. But I was still curious about our life together.

“My apartment’s large enough, isn’t it?” he asked.

I thought about his apartment with its lack of décor and clean-line minimalism. “Maybe.”

He squinted against the glaring sun. “You don’t like it?”

“It has potential. I’m more into vintage and interesting clutter. Knickknacks. Artwork everywhere.”

“You can decorate it any way you like. And I’ll keep my eyes open for an Art Deco apartment.”

“I don’t need that.” I fell into his arms. “Your place is fine. I’ll just decorate it. A splash of color here and there should do.”

“I don’t mind at all. You can paint the walls deep purple if you like.”

I laughed. “Magenta maybe.”

“Magenta?” His eyebrows gathered.

“Just pulling your leg.” I giggled. “Although one wall would be nice covered in gilt-framed art. Very Tate.”

“As in the London gallery?”

“You’re not just a pretty face,” I jested.

“Hey. I’ll have you know that London is one of my favorite cities. And I loved the Tate. And I think a magenta wall would look great.”

“I’m impressed you even know what magenta is,” I said.

“I’m not a complete dumbass. I studied art and am well acquainted with chromatics.”

I nodded slowly. “Well aren’t you a clever dick.”

He smirked. “Come here you.” He pulled me close and slapped my ass gently. “Don’t poke fun.”
