“I don’t know. This is the first time I’m seeing those. She didn’t blow any client. She wouldn’t have. We could barely get her to smile at clients that night, let alone sit on their laps and rub her tits in their faces. Not for the lack of trying. That’s why we kept giving her drinks.”

“You drugged her you mean?”

“Not me. It could have been any of the men there that night. I don’t know.”

“But if you didn’t drug her, why were you confident she’d allow herself to be auctioned?”

“I wasn’t. But she was drunk, and sure I tried to convince her, but she then tried to do a runner. Reynard, who’d seen her when she served him, said he wanted to buy her and to give her another drink.”

“So he drugged her, then?”

She shrugged. “Look, I don’t know. I had nothing to do with it.”

“You still plied her with alcohol.”

“She didn’t need to take the drinks, did she?” She concocted a smile. “The new girls like to drink. It helps them relax. She was no different.”

“Okay. So these photos are not Theadora?” I needed to be certain.

“As I said, she just served. She wasn’t doing tricks. We leave that kind of thing between the girls and the clients.”

“So who created these shots?” I asked. “You must have given them that image of her in the mirror. It was Crisp, wasn’t it?”

She shrugged. “I’m not saying any more. You got what you came for. I had nothing to do with those other images. They’re not of her. That’s all you need to know.”

I stepped outside into daylight, feeling like a weight had been lifted. More for Theadora. Those photos must have put her through hell. That thought alone strengthened my resolve to bring that prick Crisp down to his knees, begging for mercy.
