“I’m married to Britney.”

His jaw dropped. “What? How?”

I told him about the Tamara incident, pouring my heart out as I poured beer down my throat.

“Holy crap,” Orlando said. “Your father did that? Forcing you to marry Britney for your inheritance? Why?”

I took a deep breath and told him how Britney had blackmailed him.

“That’s fucking low.” He stared at me as though what I’d just revealed had affected him just as profoundly.

“What is it?” I asked.

Without answering me, he wheeled out of the living room. “I think we need something a little stronger.”

Curiosity had me following him into the kitchen, where he reached into the cupboard and pulled out a bottle of bourbon. I offered to help, but he seemed lost in his own world.

He passed me a half-filled glass.

“Thanks.” I took a sip. “So, are you going to tell me what’s going on?”

I followed him back to the living room and sat down.

“Remember Mom’s fortieth?” he asked.

“Yep. It was a great bash.”

“It was. And you snuck drinks to me even though I was only fifteen. I knew you’d make a good buddy after that.”

I returned his smile.

“Anyway, Britney…”

“Britney what? Did she hit on you?”

He nodded slowly. “She sure did.”

I sat forward. “All the way?”

He nodded with a guilty grin. “And I was only fifteen.”

“Did she force herself on you?”

I thought about how she’d burst into my room in Aspen and before I could say, “Leave,” she had my dick in her mouth.

“Well… I didn’t take much convincing.” He chuckled.

“Did you feel violated?”

“I felt guilty, with it being Mom’s party and all. It happened in here.”

“Had you been with a girl before?”

He shook his head slowly. “Nope. I was a virgin.”

I raked a hand through my hair. “So, no one knows about this?”

“Nope.”
