I part my lips, about to answer him, but before I do a new popping wet sensation occurs. Things have just taken a new turn. “My waters have just broken. I think we need to get to a hospital right away. Our baby is coming.”

I can tell Elijah wants to panic, but he’s holding on to himself as much as he can to take care of me. Thank God because if he panics, then I will lose my freaking mind. I have been very scared about giving birth, the closer I’ve gotten to my due date, the more panicked I’ve become, but none of that matters now.

The time is here, I don’t have time to worry.

“You’re going to be fine.” Elijah pulls me to him and kisses my forehead. “I’m here for you, you know that? We’re going to get through this together.”

I try to catch my breath, but it really isn’t easy. I guess I’ll feel better once I’m at the hospital and surrounded by medical professionals, right?

I tug on Elijah’s hand, trying to edge him towards the door so we can get out of here immediately.

It’s time to have our baby.

Scary, but actually very exciting times ahead as well…

* * *

Oh my God.

Wow!

I have no words. My baby boy is the most beautiful thing I have ever seen in my life. It makes all the craziness and the pain that I have been through totally worth it just to stare into a smaller version of Elijah’s eyes.

“I can’t believe he’s here,” Elijah coos, just as excited as me. “He’s so perfect.”

He has the same amount of tears in his eyes as I do. We’re both wrecks but in the best way possible. This has been one of the best days of my whole life. It feels like the start of the rest of our lives as well, because now, we’re finally a family of three which is lovely.

“You know, there has been something I want to ask you,” Elijah starts, his voice sounding a little more serious now, which gets my attention. I assume it’s going to be related to baby names, because we haven’t planned what we’re going to call our son yet, and that is going to be a journey.

One that I’m very excited about though.

“I was actually waiting for the perfect moment to do so, but this feels more perfect than anything else.”

We both look at our son in his arms. I can’t help but admire how natural he looks as the father of a newborn baby. He looks hotter than ever as a dad.

“Actually, this isn’t perfect, he corrects himself, but it feels good.”

He’s blabbering now, but I can’t blame him because if I was trying to get out some big, emotional speech, I would likely be the same way.

“I love you, Isabella Henry, that’s what I’m really trying to say.” He chuckles and I join in. “And I want to make it official. I know it might seem wild and quick to the outside world, but I know you feel the same way as me that we don’t care what they think.”

Where is he going with this? If he expects me to figure it out then he has another thing coming.

My brain iswaytoo foggy for this.

“I want us to be an official family, Isabella, I want you to be my wife because you make me the happiest man alive, and I never want to be away from you.”

Now he really has tears streaming down his face.

But happy ones I’m sure. “This isn’t the romantic speech that I planned, and I left the ring back at home, but I want you to know right now. So what do say? Will you do me the honor of being my wife? Will you marry me?”

Wow, what a day. My head is in a spin.

First I give birth to my son, and now I’m about to be Elijah’s fiancée. Because ofcourse, I nod yes, no matter how the proposal came I just want to be his bride.

That’s all I’ve ever needed.

“I would love to,” I gush. “I love you too.”

It’s awkward because he’s holding our baby boy, but Elijah bends down to give me a little kiss. My first kiss as his fiancée!

That’s so exciting. Iknowthis is the man I want to spend the rest of my life with, even more so now. He’s proved to me that love doesn’t always come in the most expected of places, but that doesn’t make it any less of a happy ever after.

The End
