My…

Whatever he is.

“Oh, sweetie. Ry was just telling me all about his brother. Such an inspiration.”

I frown at Ryder and he ducks his head, running a hand down the back of his neck.

“You should go,” I say.

“It was good to see you, Cassie. Don’t be a stranger.”

Don’t be a stranger.

What the hell is that supposed to mean?

“I’ll be back in a minute,” I mutter as I grab my hoodie and storm out of the room, Ryder hot on my tail.

I head for the elevators but he gently takes my elbow and steers me toward the stairwell. Once the door clicks shut, he crowds me against the wall.

“What are you—”

“You’re pissed at me.” He dips his head, studying my expression.

“No, I’m not.”

“I call bullshit. We were only talking. She seems cool.”

“Cool? She’s like forty.”

“Age is but a number.” He smirks.

The bastard actually smirks.

“Are you kidding me right now?” I fume, glancing away from him. “You should go, I need to get back.”

“Katrina, look at me.”

I fold my arms over my chest, forcing him to back up a little. But Ryder grips my chin and forces me to look at him.

“You’re jealous.” His mouth twitches.

“Jealous of my aunt Cassie? Yeah okay, Einstein.”

“You know I was just being friendly, right? She caught us in bed—”

“We weren’t in bed.”

“Semantics. It wouldn’t hurt to have another person in our corner.” His brow lifts.

“We don’t have a corner. You lied to me. You played me like a fool. You—”

His hand snaps out, collaring me, stealing the words from the tip of my tongue. “Let me make something real clear, darlin’. The only woman I’ve wanted since that night is you. The only woman I’ve had my dick inside is you. The only woman I want on the back of my bike and in my bed is you. Yeah, we withheld the truth, yeah we fucked up, but honestly, I didn’t want to scare you off and…”

He stops himself so I push, “And what?”

“And I figured you’d pick him.”

Styx.
