I scan the room and find D already sitting in a booth with five beers and a whole heap of shots in front of him.

He either knows what’s about to go down, or he really is up for a good night.

“Yes, man,” Zach announces, immediately throwing back a couple of shots. D following his moves and sinking four before the rest of our asses even touch the bench.

“You okay, man?” Styx asks, his brows pulled tight in concern.

“Oh yeah, I’m good. The guy I’ve hated since I was sixteen is fucking my sister. I’m great.”

“I thought we were over this,” Styx sighs.

“We are. It just hits me harder some days.”

“I fucking love her, man. I’m not just fu—”

“Maybe leave it at the love, bro,” Zach offers, and all I can do is nod.

“I swear to fuck, if you knock her up and ruin her—”

“I’m in love with her too,” I blurt, effectively cutting off his statement and ensuring nothing but silence descends on our table.

“I fucking knew it,” Diesel booms, attempting to push to his feet, but he’s pinned in by the table and the giant bikers on either side of him. “Let me the fuck out so I can end this motherfucker.”

“Chill out, man,” Jax says, although it has little effect. D just pulls his gun out instead, levelling it at my head.

“Go on then,” he urges.

“Uh… I’m in love with Kat,” I repeat. “Have been for a while. We understand each other, all the shit with your mom and Ricky. She gets me. I get her. Plus, she’s fucking incredible. Like the most amazing woman on the planet so… No offense,” I quickly add, glancing at Zach and Jax.

“So. Let me get this right,” D says as if I’ve just delivered him an impossible math problem. “You. And you,” he spits, turning his gun on Styx. “Are both fucking my sister. I’m assuming at the same time.”

“Hey,” Styx says, trying to lighten the mood. “It could be worse. She could have a harem.”

Zach snorts. “He’s got a point, man.”

“I fucking wanted more for her than this.”

“Can you really ask for more than having two guys who would kill for her? Who would rather die than see her hurting?” I ask, letting myself bleed out all over the bar.

D reaches out for the last two shots on the table and throws them back.

“There’s not enough alcohol here for this shit.”

Instead of demanding everyone move, he just tucks his piece away and climbs over the table.

The four of us watch as he stalks toward the bar and orders a bottle of whiskey, forgoing the glass that comes with it.

“So is that it?” I ask. “Does the fact I’m not dead right now mean I got his blessing?”

“Blessing might be a strong word for it,” Jax admits. “But he can hardly blow your brains out when he’s living out his own harem.”

My skin burns with attention and I glance toward the bar as the guys fall into a debate about there being three cocks instead of two.

My eyes find Diesel’s dark and stormy ones before he nods. It’s subtle. So fucking subtle, but I see it, and it means fucking everything.

He’s not going to be properly okay with this for… well… probably forever. But he also knows that he can’t argue with me.

Styx and I would both lay down our lives for Kat in a heartbeat. And what big brother doesn’t want that for his sister?
